I am looking to buy a kuk to use on our packing trips seems like it would be better than a tomahawk for chopping arround camp. You have to have a axe as it is required by the forest service . Usually carry a couple butcher knives and a hatchet Do you think a kuk would serve the purpose at a savings of weight anf if so which kuk would you recommend. Chop branches that are across the trail. Its trouble to unpack the ax each time and repack ever time the trail is blocked . Which kuk would be the best in your opinion for this

pack trips to bridger lake area of the tetons and yellowstone and on the northers cheyenne indian reservation of montana

Yep geta Khuk. I love my 18" GRS. Not too imposing to hike with, yet...it could chop anything I can swing it at. Dayum perty too! Careful though. Heroin isn't as addictive as dem khuks.

I'm going to say my vote is for the WWII. If you are 5'8 or under the 16.5" is great. If you are taller or of a more muscular build, then the 18" is a great do-all khuk. The 18" GRS is a good one as well. What thickness of branches are you needing to cut? You might be able to get by with a 15" Ang Khola.
BTW, Welcome:)!

would be using it to clear brush up to 2-3 inches in diamater and saplings across the trail or building the camp kitchen and tent poles and such
