Hello beckerheads and hello bladeforums. It has been a while since I’ve been posting around here. I’ve still been on the Becker Facebook group from time to time but have certainly neglected the forums. So here is the highlight reel.
While I’ve been gone I’ve developed an axe and kukri problem.
Found this 100yr old long leaf that really feels like it was inspiration for the Reinhardt kukri, now our bk21.

I also just recently started making knives. No longer just modifying. Actually starting with bar stock and heat treating myself. I’ve been trying to practice sculpting the handles so I’ve been practicing on random old blades.

I have been working on this belt knife that is heavily Becker inspired. Basically a 90% straight copy of the tweeter handle. I wanted a similar drop point to a bk16 with a 5” blade and tapering blade height. I also wanted to do a round pommel. I think the rounded pommel can really aid in spoon and bowl carving. This last version (Still waiting on heat treat) I may have went a little crazy with. I decide to make the pommel more like a ring and decided to incorporate a bottle opener into it…cuz it just seemed like a wast of space if it didn’t serve more than one function. (I promise I’m not an alcoholic)

I’m also working on a XL Becker Reinhardt kukri (did I mention I’m on a kukri kick?) It’s going to be more like the blackjack version which is basically a machete. It was supposed to be 3/32” thick but the steel came in the mail closer to 1/8”. It’s got a really nice covex grind like hanks Japanese combat kukri. I was originally going to try to keep the weight about 16-18oz but because of the unplanned extra stock thickness it’s going to be around 20-22oz. Also might have an XL machax in the works soon!

I recently ordered a small forge so I’m very excited to give that a try instead of stock removal.
I have not stopped collecting old beckers. I was in fact incredibly blessed by a fellow Beckerhead who helped Ethan move out of his Tennessee property. He graciously offered me some pieces that Ethan had left with him. The more accurate story is I jumped at the bait and basically stole them from him and took off running.

I have also added to my “not a becker, but becker handled” blades. Picked up a beautiful forged Bensinger and Siegel bolo with Becker handles.

I guess the last update I have and by far
The most important is…I had a kid! So the wife and I have our hands full with this baby girl.
