I had second thoughts about putting this up. Seems like we are hitting the forumites up for all sorts of stuff and maybe too much of it. Then I remembered something my Guru said during one of our discussions.
"You can't be a giver if you can't find a taker." Dead on obvious as was the way with the Guru.
I've seen poor kids in Nepal working as hotel boys, sweating in the carpet shops for 12 cents an hour, carrying loads bigger than them for 3 bucks for a long day, working in the brick factories and in the aruns(BirGorkha is an arun) -- and if you've got a heart it will break. These kids should be in school, learning, socializing, making a place for themselves in the future. Well, why aren't they in school? Because their folks were too damned poor to send them.
The same holds true for the kami kids -- just not enough money to get into or stay in school -- so we're going to try to change that and this is the way we are doing it. Wiring over the first couple of month scholarship money today made me feel like a decent human being and I felt very, very good and this is the reason the thread's going up.
I've seen more times than a dog's got fleas forumites who have feelings just like me. Take a look at Steve's thread -- the raffle for Ram. There were a bunch of good guys wanting to toss a little help out because it makes them feel good to help. So, if you want to feel really good all you have to do is punch the button.
