It all started with the Camp Tramp, sort of...

Late one night I was stumbling along the internet looking for a good camp knife for an upcoming camping trip. Through various forums, the name “Swamp Rat” was mentioned. I had to check it out. The “Camp Tramp” looked perfect for me. However, $130 for a knife I had never seen or heard of before seemed a little steep. I mentioned to my wife it would be a great Christmas gift for me, and forgot about it. A few weeks later, I checked the Swamp Rat forums again, and to my shock, the Camp Tramp had been discontinued! What would I do? I asked my wife if she had already ordered me one for X-mass hoping I wouldn’t miss out. She said she did and I was relived. About a week later, I got a package in the mail from Swamp Rat, but it was much smaller than I had anticipated. I tore open the box, and to my surprise, it was a folder, the Rat Trap. I fell in love with it and thanked my wife, but still longed for the camp tramp. Oh well, I thought, one will turn up on eBay. Then I looked, WOW $300+ for a knife that retails for $130? After looking at the available knives, I though the Ratweiler would fit my needs. However, what if it was too big? I ordered a Howling Rat too just in case. :)

Since I live in Kentucky, I go to Knob Creek every year. I didn’t find a Camp Tramp, but I did meet Eric, The Bully, and he sold me a Rat Shaker, Bog Dog, and a Battle Rat. I looked at the Custom SARs while I was there but decided I could pass on them. Before I made it home I had changed my mind, I HAD to have one. I stayed up late that night on Blade forums waiting to the “GO” on the Extravaganza like so many others. SCORE! I got my first choice, a custom SAR would be mine. After what seemed like a long wait, about two weeks, I got my SAR in the mail. A month later, my howling rat, about another three weeks, my Rat Weiler.

Now, what does this have to do with Busse you might ask? Did I put this in the wrong forum? Nope, I just wanted to tell you people that Swamp Rat IS a gateway drug/knife to Busse. I just ordered my first piece of INFI and right behind it my second. I hope to have a War Boar and Hell Razor in my Hands soon. Not to mention many more that will soon be released in the coming weeks at BLADE. I’m already lusting after the Crash Rat Axe and Hoping for the long sought after folder from Busse that so many of you want as well. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it to BLADE this year. Remember that camping trip I was planning at the beginning of all this? Well, it’s the same weekend, and in MO, but the other end of the state. Is that a bad omen? Or a blessing on my wallet? Who knows? Thanks Guys.

Welcome to the Fold my Brother!;)
I blame 360joules and Walking Man for the introduction to my Rattish/Hoggish addiction (never myself, deny, deny).:D
But, yes, I totally agree on the gateway to INFIction!

I just counted, I've ordered 9 knives in the last 5 months from these two companies, yet there are still so many more I want. What's wrong with me? Does it ever end? This may be worse than the dreaded Black Rifle Disease; I've got a few lowers I'm waiting on to show up too. :)

It's awesome for those who can and do get these great blades. I have extreme limitations on my spending limits, but what blades I own, I love and use. As for all the blades I want (OH so many) I just live vicariously through the forums.
Nope, I don't think there's anything wrong with a person who likes a lot of a great thing.
