That day again -- finally the weekend is upon us. Not going to get much shop time this weekend though. Gotta go to a "department party" tonight, but I get to go to a small, local knifeshow in the morning. After that, it's re-staining the deck ('taint no small one either. :grumpy: ) and finish some other chores. I might get some time in the shop on sunday to finish a camp knife.

So, what's up with you all? I know Mr. Higgins will be heat-treating every piece of metal in his house with his new oven. (lucky bastid. ;) )
 
It's been raining so much here in Northwest Florida I'm literally choking on grass and weeds. It may take me all day tomorrow, (unless it rains!) to mow the backyard! Might get a chance to do some forging at some point this weekend though.
 
I'm going over to Burch's house Saturday afternoon, and stand around in the front yard in my underwear until he agrees to fire up that forge of his. Staining a deck, indeed!
 
I'm gonna set out a few crab traps this evening, and have a crab boil tomorrow night with some friends, if I get enough crabs. I've got a big section of bandsaw blade from a sawmill that I'm planning on cutting up this afternoon as well. Trying to finish the handle on a big brush knife, also. Gotta polish and put the handle on a blade I'm way behind on, too. Doesn't look like I'll have time for any forging, but looks like a good weekend nonetheless. Oh, I forgot the local gun and knife show this weekend. I'll see that in the morning.

God bless ya, Bro! I'll tell you what, I ain't got the time to to do squat in the shop these days. I am right out straight with all this siding and windows I been doing. I got a 28x48 ranch, but you'd think its a mansion when you get started on renovating it. Its probably going to be another month before I can even get a couple knives finished that I have in the works. But man, I'll just have to say that when I am done with this, I will definitely have some free time!

There's a lesson here: You can't have it all, because sometimes you'll get bit in the ass just when you think you got it made. For years I spent every waking moment on the waters fishing or in the woods hunting and my son by my side. Now the house is all run down and needs a lot of work. That is the work I neglected for the last 13 years we've been living there. So my advice to you all is don't neglect your chores! Moderation!

Okay, I'll step down off the soapbox, hehe.

Ahhhh! There's nothing like a Friday thread, eh Mike? :D

Looks like my deck staining has been postponed. Cruel and unusual punishment, indeed.

Heh! Danbo will, too! I already have my mowing done, so ha ha ha! I just got better half out of the hospital, and got errands done except to pick up my bandsaw and drill press this weekend. My present shop drill press is a tabletop, the one I'm picking up is a standup. I have my ol' sheath maker/gunsmith buddy coming to visit today, too. I just bought my fishing license and another box of .17HMR ammo and want to do a bit of shooting today, too. Shop time tomorrow! Our weather here is absolutely beautiful, and cool. My boat motor is running good now, boat is ready. Hey, the weekend is here! I have 3 day weekends every week.

Just packed up the gamma ray projector (camera). At 3:30 I'll hope on the old Harley, drive home, on the way pick up some beer. Tonight, Linda and I will sit out in the back yard with a fire going, drinking that beer I bought in the afternoon.

Tomorrow, I have 2 graduation parties to go to, first my nephew, he just graduated college, then off to Lightning Brother Lester's house, his son just graduated high school, bring a guitar {Rickenbacker} and amp to that one, there will be a lot of musicians there.

Sunday, I'll weld up the table I have the steel for, the table is for my MMG. :eek:
