I got this anvil from Leroy R... He said it came from the old Buck custom Shop a long time ago... It's about 2" x 1 1/2"... It's small... I just thought it was coool and wanted to share it with you all... I sure wish it said Buck on it, some where.... I like anything that came from Buck... :D ... ITE

Cool.

There must be more to the story beyond "it came from the old Buck custom shop." That symbol must mean something.

Share!

:)

(BTW......did you get a letter from him to authenticate origin?)

BG, he just told me that it came from the Buck Custom Shop... I think they made them there... He had three of them... One for his mom that he made a letter opener out it for her... Very cool... and one for him self that had Buck Stamped on it... And he gave me one... The symbol is for some company that Buck dealt with... That's all he said about it... He's Oregon right now... So I can't ask him anything about it... ... ITE

Well, I'll just hope for a little more history later. I suppose it was a novelty item and a gift for good customers and dealers.

:)

Do you have one of the new anvils as a companion for it?

SMKW anvil .... No not yet... But I did get two more small anvils from a yard sale the other day... That are cool... They will look good with my Buck knives....I will have to take a pic of them later today, if the sun comes out that is...

do you suppose it could be a salesmans sample? whoever made Bucks anvils might have brought one along to show off as opposed to lugging a full sized anvil. if it is, they are worth a PREMIUM$$$$$....my parents were antique dealers and i learned all about this years ago. alotta times people see a "miniature refridgerator"and think doll furniture, when it is actually a salesman sample worth a pretty penny.

Woody's thought is a good one.

If it were a Buck gift, as I speculated, it would be marked Buck. So it can't be that.

More likely a sample TO Buck from an anvil salesman.

Good theory, Woody.

:)

the neat thing about those little samples, as new models came out (almost yearly), the old samples were discarded. there was no use in showing potential customers last years model. im not sure that anvils have changed alot over the years, but in the case of appliances and such, samples are worth a fortune for that reason alone.
