I have made many sheaths for Bill Bagwell's Hell's Belle knives...but I never made one I was totally satisfied with. My problem was with the C guard Bill puts on them. It is purely functional and performs it's intended duty as designed....but it gives very little clearance for the sheath at the mouth as you can see in the attached photos.
I got this very special Bagwell in from my friend Bob Furusho and I decided it's time to either tweak my design or think of something new and different. In the Past the guard had always been completely outside the sheath, but this new design covers the guard with a collar front and back and the tips of the guard rest on the welt on each side to act as a stop to eliminate the possibility of a puncture in the tip.
This design will see further use. Insertion and draw is smooth and quick and retention along the full length of the blade is good. Thanks again to Bob for sending it my way so I could improve the design.
