I was looking at the different SAK models and was trying to find a lightweight SAK that had the following: Locking Large blade, Saw, Scissors, sewing awl, flat head screwdriver, phillips head, and a magnifying glass.

The magnifying glass is messing things up, as it seems to pretty much be limited to heavier feature packed models. I could probably live without the mag glass, but I remember that the glass on my old swiss champ worked pretty darn good for firestarting. It's a nice feature to have.

Any models that I missed that fit the bill without being monsters...

Try the SAK Selector at SOSAK.com. That may give an idea of which SAK fits the bill. Ofhand, I'd say the disco'd, but still available, Champion Plus may work; definitely bulky, though. Hope this helps.

There are people out there that customize these things...maybe one of them would make you a custom version.

I was never successful at starting a fire with mine. What is your technique?

I always found that with the SAK magnifying glass the biggest cause for failure was that it can be difficult to get light to focus in a perfectly round circle. On a larger magnifying glass this doesn't seem to be as much as of an issue becuase you are still focusing alot of light into a relatively small area. With the glass on the SAK you have to make sure that both the lens and the object you are focussing on are aligned so that the light is being focussed into a perfect circle. Also don't use white paper, the pure white paper reflects back alot of the gathered light. If you are using newspaper, focus on a spot of dark news print, it will be much harder to see the effects of your focussing efforts, but the dark areas will catch flame far more quickly. Best bet is a piece of paper or tinder that is already charred.

No locking blade Victorinox has a magnifying glass. :grumpy:

Knives that match without the mag. glass:

Hercules
Outrider
Survivor
WorkChamp
WorkChamp XL

Plus all the Swisstool options.

The most basic with what you asked for is the Outrider. :D

If you want a smaller model you could try Wenger. Some here don't think the quiality is very good but I have one of the new Evo's with the rubber-like grip insert and it is well made. They make a 84mm with a locking main blade. I don't see a 84mm on there sight that matches all of your criteria without being several layers thick though.
