I was expecting it to show up Thursday but it got here yesterday afternoon instead and I'm so psyched about using this fat bastard asap. I grabbed a few sticks from outside and sat in my basement practicing a few feathersticks and today I'll try to do a bit of wood splitting so I can do some batoning. I now know why people are putting those fire notches in the spine cuz that damn spine won't throw a spike to save its life. I was wondering if there would be a way to sharpen the edges of the spine once its stripped, to make it work better with ferro rods. If not the notch will have to do. I also ordered some micartas for me patinaed bk9 but now I'm thinking I'll put them on the 2 after I strip it. I didn't get the standard micarta scales, I went to a guy on the 'bay whi sells scales in micarta and G10 for all the beckers(except the remora;)) and got a set of OD green for basically the same price. I was going to pick the teal/black but the OD just looked like a better fit for whichever knife I put then on. With the new 2 and the soon-to-be-here micartas, and the sexy burl I have coming for my 11, the family is growing and starting to look very good.:D
Of course I took a few 'out of the box' pics for you fiends before I begin my mods. And once they're all completed I'll show 'em off like chick with a new belly button ring, lol:D:rolleyes:
Here's a little soft core for ya;)

Have fun with the mods! I haven't gotten brave enough yet to do anything to my BK2 beyond micarta handles...

Adam from Equip2Endure has a great video on reshaping the spine for use with a firesteel. Search for it on youtube.

Ahhhh, A virgin BK-2, I can remember way back, When mine looked the same, Oh, About 5 days ago.:D
I'm still trying to decide whether to leave it black or strip and polish. Enjoy your new baby!!

Nice BK2 Mike. All these Beckers are fun to play with. I sure do like the look of them stripped whether they sport a patina or not. I still haven't stripped my BK7 yet but one of these days. Have fun with it and get your 11 to me when you can.

Congrats on the blade !

A grinding wheel will give you a nice spine for throwing sparks, or a belt sander, or a file, or a Dremel or ... (lol)

That's one of the great things about these blades you can mod the $hit out of them fairly easily and not mess them up.
Just makes it "yours"

Yeah I know, I'm a member of E2E. I watched it a couple days ago but I'm not for sure that I'll do a notch just yet. I was wondering if the little mini choil would work the same way or if it would still mess up the blade somehow.

The only thing I own is a harbor freight rotary tool(cheap @$$ dremel, lol) and the bits get eaten up quick as hell. I went through 3 putting jimping in the trailhawk. It was my first time ever using one, or doing jimping for that matter but it still seemed way too quick to go through them. Plus they only give you one of each size so you then have to make do with the next most similar style. I did try one of the sand paper wheels on the spine but it wasn't doing what I had hoped.

Oh and I'll be stripping it for sure Pat, I won't try a patina right away but the coating must go!:D I really want to get the blade the color of the knife in the pics I've attached. Is that something done in the forging of the blade or can it be done with gun kote or whatever? I want it to be that matte gray finish with a hint of shine.
here's a big one so you can see the finish better
