WOOHOO!

At very long last, after 4 days of painful anticipation, it is here! Thanks to Yangdu :)

It's a 15" BAS. The Handle is made of Tuni wood.

I will admit, it feels much heavier than expected, and unfortunatly i havn't found anything to weigh it yet... so i can't give a weight for it.

The blade and handle appear perfect on visual inspection. Havn't chopped with it yet. The only possible probem with the handle might be that the wood has shrunk just slightly away from the butt cap. Not enough to leave a gap. but enough that the cap and the handle are no longer nicely lined up - you can feel the edge. Still though, absolutely wonderful.

After forum broowsing, i was also expecting the handle to be a lighter shade of red. I am pleasently dissapointed at how dark it turned out :D

The biggest problem is the sheath. There is nothing wrong with it. It is just quite loose. If you turn it upside down, all three "knives"/utensils will fall out. Not quite sure how i intend to remedy this problem, as i'm not quite talented enough to make a completely new sheath

So... lastly... pics!

Can't figue out how to do pics... i guess i need to drop them on a website... so give me a day or two to figure this out, and i'll get them up.

Yeah...basic doesn't come with image hosting.

As for the karda and chakma, simply seat them deeper. If the khukuri itself is loose (as happens when it changes climate around the world), a small strip of leather can be glued in place in the throat of the sheath.

Hmmm.. thanks Nasty. I shall try that leather thing to tighten the knife in the sheath. Unfortunatly i can't push down the Karda and Chakma - one of them, yes. But the other, there isn't any room for it to get pushed further into the sheath. I'll probabily try that leather idea of yours there as well.

Very good instruction!

This should be stickied somewhere.

Now where would be a good place for it?

Technical Support Forum would be best, I would think.

Yup...oughta be stickied somewhere...

Radrunner,

If you don't need to have the chakma and karda, you can try your hand at a Kydex sheath (you can create one with spots for chakma and karda, but the design isn't as straight forward). Here is a pic of one I did. Trust me, if I can do this anyone can. This is the first sheath I've ever made, the first time I've ever worked with Kydex, etc. I started this project with no experience at all, so it's definately doable by anyone. Total cost for the materials under $50.00 and that includes purchasing a rivet gun.

The karda/chakma slots should have a small piece of leather glued in already. It covers the staple or nail or whatever is used to hold the loop together. Sometimes the piece of leather falls down into the sheath, causing the poor fit you describe. You might want to look and see if you have an extra little square of leather floating around. (or the fit could just be off).
