I just checked my mailbox and guess what? The large, plain Sebenza that I've been waiting for is finally here! I immediately tore open the package and emptied out all of those shipping peanuts and found the box with the CRK sticker on it at the bottom. I opened the box, threw aside the papers and unrolled the Sebbie from the tissue paper. OMG, this is one awesome knife. I've been playing with it and couldn't be any happier. The fit and finish are excellent and I can tell already that this won't be my last Sebbie!:D

Now let's see, what should I cut...:D

Congrats, My first was great too. ( And so were all the others :) )

P.S. Sorry to hear about what will start to happen to your Bank Account:D

Sarcoblaster - cut anything you want as long it is not parts of your anantomy :D

Congratulations, SarcoBlaster!

Now all you need is a small plain, small classic, large classic, small regular decorated CGG, large regular decorated CGG, small decorated unique classic and regular, large decorated unique classic and regular, wood inlays, Mnandis, Umfaans... :D

Enjoy!

Good advice, bagman!:)

The first thing I cut with it was a bag of chips.

LOL, me too, some think that it's weird that we get these knives and actually use them! There are some that I couldn't use and so I sold them after finding that I didn't want to cut with them but the regular ones, have at em!

I really like the security of the lock mech and the square shaped handle to me works best as it doesn't try to turn in your hand when press hard into serivce, some of these folders have TOO much Contour and can move when you go to cut with them...not a good feature but the Sebenza, to me, is quite solid in this way.

Now...a small wood inlay Classic will fit your medium cutting chores nicely! ;)

G2 referenced a Sebenza and "medium" duty cutting chores in one sentence.

Somebody beer me...

Professor.

I think that is G2's way of lobbying Chris Reeve for a wharncliff style blade???

The thing I like most about my Sebbie is the smoothness. It may not be as easy to open as other knives, but it sure is smooth. I think this will be it for a while, but I do plan on getting another one, probably a small decorated (wood, unique, computer generated graphic... not sure yet) in the future.

Speaking of smoothness... there might be a downside to that. I had the Sebbie in my pocket and jogged across the street. When I got back to my room, I noticed the blade had opened slightly. Normally, it takes some pressure to get it past the detente, but I guess the bouncing motion was enough. Luckily, I didn't cut myself or my pants.

I've had my Sebenza come open in my pocket too, once almost cutting myself. Nothing is perfect. But knives deserve attention at all times anyway, so I don't make assumptions about blade edges....

Now you just have to condition yourself to actually use the Seb under all circumstances. The desire to keep it pristine forever is a strong one.. :)

That is so true. I've been obsessively wiping down the blade to get rid of fingerprints, dirt, dust, lint, etc. The lint that has stuck to the grease in the pivot is driving me nuts though (am I crazy or something?:D). I want to take it apart and clean it out, but I don't have any oil to re-lube the pivot with.

On a side note, when I reassemble the knife, I screw the handle slabs together, and then slide the blade and phosphor bronze washers into the handle assembly, correct?

Well, I just saw the first ding/scratch on my Sebbie. Yesterday, I was wearing it IWB right behind my hip and my belt hit it (it's the kind with a metal thing at the end). I heard the noise, looked to see if I could find any damage, but didn't notice any right away. About 20 minutes ago, I pulled the Sebbie out to open up a few DVD's and saw a silverish spot on the front scale right where the lanyard is tied. Since that's the only part that shows when I wear it IWB, the belt must've hit it. AAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!! That's number one, I don't even want to know when scratch number 2 is gonna come around.

Hey congrats on your new sebbie, i am sure it will not be your last. Don't be concerned about scratches to the titanium, it just adds charactor.

Hermie is correct, I dropped my small sebenza on the floor (by accident I hasten to add) the first day it arrived and it got a couple of dings.

After about six months of daily use it now has "charater marks" all over it including scratches on the polished screws.

As far as I am concerned Sebenza's are working knives and should not be molly codled unless you are trying to hide a particularly nice (read rewally expensive) example from your wife that is :D
