Yes, boyzengurlz. It has arrived. The much anticipated RC5 is here.
I do not have pictures, yet, as I am at work and don't have a good camera (my phone has a camera but it's an LG and I didn't bring the connection cord). We are expecting snow this weekend, but if I have my way that will not stop me from taking pictures and torturing this new addition to my little hellions.
Recap:
Ordered in plain edge, OD Green from Cumberland Knife Works. Great folks, and Brenda (co-owner and Bill's bride) is actually FROM a place in Kentucky that I'm a regular visitor to!
Great folks, fricking awesome service.
Knife came in the Eagle cordura sheath (Thank You, God!!). Not that I don't dig that Kydex one, but for what I need the Cordura with the pocket is what I was praying for.
First impressions:
This thing is Fort Knox. Not as in "gold" but as in "security". The sheath is a nice, firm fit. The blade doesn't rattle or move around enough to make a crapload of noise, if any. The sheath insert is lined with felt for a more quiet draw/ sheathing.
The knife itself?
Holy Hell, kiddies. This baby is a tank. I expected it to be like a brick as far as weight goes, but it's not. It's got a heft that lets you know it's there, but not enough to drag you down. I can see how somebody could EDC this in Kydex pants. If I'm right; tie a lanyard on this bad boy, choke back on the handle and it's a fricking axe.
For a 5 inch blade this thing just puts out the "Go ahead, punk. Make my day" vibe. It's speaking to me. It's saying: "Forget those other clowns, brother. I'm the real effin' deal. Let's go play. Hell, let's go level a forest."
If I was a bettin' man brothers-n-sisters, I'd bet this sumbuck is a machine. And if this weekend works out right...I'm gonna hit the "Start" button.
