It has landed!

Just a few quick pics I snapped upon finding this beauty waiting for me at home:

I'm limited to things I can chop in my parents' suburban back yard (but even less limited than at my apartment), so here's all I got until I can get into the woods this or next weekend:

Family shot of the only two pieces of INFI currently in my possession:

I've had much more INFI over the past couple years, but with these two I feel quite content :)

As far as the MOABolo goes, it feels pretty nice in hand, especially with the hand-shaped scales. It balances about an inch forward of the "BUSSE" logo:

The only large Bussekin I've had up to date are an SHBM, a CGFBM and the 1311. I was expecting the MOABolo to feel a lot heavier than all of these. Now the SHBM was just an anomaly in that it was so well balanced that it simply disappeared in hand (I openly admit I was a fool for letting that go so quickly, and my issues were probably just due to my weak hands at the time...I was not ready for such greatness, but I digress...).

In comparison to the CGFBM and 1311, both knives that I owned and used for a good while, the MOABolo does feel heavier, but it is not the dramatic difference that I thought it would be....for lack of better words, it seems like the MOABolo carries and wears its weight pretty well. It is more forward balanced than the CGFBM, and as a result is maybe a little "slower" in hand, but generally speaking it feels really nice to swing around and carry and I do feel like I could be happy taking it around on any trip that I would have been willing to take my CGFBM on. Ultimately a big heavy blade is not the most practical thing to pack on any serious hike or trip into the woods, but I imagine that if I am willing to take the CGFBM (and the weight penalties that come with it) on an outing, the extra 10oz of the MOABolo wouldn't be that big of a deal to bring along instead - considering that my CGFBM is now gone, this is great news!

I'm no expert knife reviewer, especially with my comparatively limited experience with choppers and big knives, but I do look forward to using my MOABolo more and will be sure to let you guys know what I think :)

Woohoo! This thing is awesome! Thanks Busse crew and Jerry for making this epic Ganzaaa happen

Wow that thing looks great. I would have definately sprung for one if I'd known it wasn't just a modified NMFBM. Great score, man!

That is wicked cool. I'm interested to hear that it feels so much lighter than it looks. Because I tell you, it looks like it would swing like a sledgehammer LOL. Clearly it can do some serious chopping.

awesome review and congrats on the blade... love that its a user!
I also thought the MOABolo would be much heavier feeling... weight wise it's up there, but my slightly thinner NMFBM feels about the same. Maybe I'm just used to it now too

Thanks for sharing the pic! Looks like you got a hell of a knife!

Yeah me too. I'm bummed that the specs weren't correct from Busse. I'm hoping they will make them available again.

Man now I am thinking I need one.

Very cool.

Cool! Looks great, thanks for the pix.
I also requested one with hand shaped scales in hope that they'd be slightly thinner or at least fit better than the full machined Magnum scale sized would. :)
Congrats on your score!! :)

That is a very good looking color combo! Congratulations on posting the first user pics I have seen of one of these!

Man, all these MOABolo pics are making me anxious, after finishing another 3000 mile work week I can finally send my package off to Busse tomorrow so mine can get done!

I love to see that you put your MOABOLO to use! Congrats on your score  The handshaped really makes it feel great

Ahhhhhhh.....A big Ol' Busse being put to its proper use....Great Pics Man thanx for sharing....:thumbup:

Thanks for the kind words everyone :D I am quite happy with this knife...had trouble putting it down while watching Netflix with the wife last night (to her amusement).

Was worried the urban shadow camo would look weird with the tan micarta, but happy to see it came out pretty nicely...

Let me be clear - it most certainly is a big, heavy, beast of a blade...but somehow it is not nearly as clumsy as I feared it could be. Hard to describe it but in a lot of ways it just feels like a CGFBM swallowed a TGLB, or perhaps a SARGE7 (blade end first) - definitely more weight there, but it seems pretty well distributed. ;)

I imagine the most valuable comparisons will come from people who have also handled NMFBMs (sadly, I have not!)

Jaxx - this thing feels great with the hand-shaped micarta! And not too thick either. I am in class right now, but I'll take a photo of the scales later on and you can see, they're not too fat. This is my first experience with this handle option - probably not the last though!

As far as my "use" goes, I hope to go out within the next couple of weeks and find a little more to chop than just backyard logs (or at least some more). I'll tell you, I really want to take this thing to a tree...and just about everything else in sight! Within minutes of pulling it out of the box I had to try it out on something...

WOW! Just WOW!!!
What a gorgeous hunk'o'INFI!!!!!
Looks like she bites deep!!!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!
