It is possible ? My new EDC wishes…

Since 2000, I daily carry a small regular serrated Sebenza. I think it is time to change my EDC and I would like to buy something more elegant than my actual knife.

The small size is the relevant for me and the classic design seems to be the finest. It is a matter of taste, but I don’t really want to own a graphic decorated model (I like the minimalist designs :p ). In spite of everything, I would like to have a personalised knife.

I wonder if it is possible to order a totally standard small classic Sebenza (with bead blasted scales and stone washed blade), but with silver thumb stud and back spacer (like this knife) and, just a hematite cabochon (like this knife but without graphics).

I would like to know what are your feelings about this idea. ;)

Thank in advance for your comments ! :D

Hi Louky. You can order your Sebenza from the factory with just about any unique design you like. Just call and talk with them. Heck, you will probably be encouraged to draw a design and send it in for Lisa to work her magic. She will try and match it to the Sebenza as close as possible, to include silver studs if you wish.

Post your results when done! ;)

I'm sure you can get the customized touches you mentioned. Give them a call.

It sounds good, the silver and the hematite will give it a cool look.

I was searching information concerning the different cabochon matters. I wonder if they are hard enough to endure the EDC ill treatments.
I think it may be interesting for other BladeForums.com members…

Here is the hardness propriety definition for minerals.

And the different cabochon matter specifications :

Amber
Almandine
Amethyst
Star Sapphire
Citrine
Iolite
Hematite

I will send an e-mail to Bridget to ask if my dream knife can be manufactured ! :D

I've had Sebenza's with Hemetite, MOP, and Sapphire. No problems with any of them ever. MOP is set flat in the mounting hole where as Hemetite is rounded and humps over the titanium slab. Same with Sapphire.

Thank for these pieces of information. ;)
Since the stone humps over the titanium scale, did you ever noticed scratches on the cabochon surface ?

I personally have owned two Sebenzas' with Hemitite. Small and a large. Neither of them ever got scratched. The large really didn't get used a whole heck of a lot before I sold it off. My small classic got used all the time, and as I spoke of, the hemitite never scratched. Not saying it couldn't happen, but I would think you would have to lay your Sebenza on the left side of the knife on a hard surface for this to happen.

Louky, I think you would really like the addition of the hemitite cabochon to your Sebenza. Maybe even a silver design of your own. Whether or not you plan on using the knife hard, making it personal is all well worth it! Almost every Sebenza I've gotten over the years has been personalized for me in one way or another; including this last one with the black buffalo horn scales and fireball Damascus blade combo. Duel silver thumb lugs and milled silver backspacer. Maybe a swedge on the blade or some other type of inlay is your thing. Whatever it may be, have fun with and try not to worry about the damage it will incure in the future. The CR factory is pretty good about cleaning up scratches or other damages if they happen.
:)

I wasn’t sure if it was important to have his very own personalized knife. But to be honest, I already wasn’t sure of the Sebenza qualities the first time I was buying one. :p

Thank you very much for your comments. Now I don’t have any doubt and I will follow your advice.... it is a new step in the "Louky & Sebenza" story ! :D

Louky,
I've had a sm. Sebenza"In God We Trust" with the reveresed setting[no color, just silver] and my initials engraved on the clip side.I've had it on order for about 2+ months, now the question is do I call and ask how much longer? well, when it's done it'll be mine and like no others! :D Dave

I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but I know someone that has been waiting on a custom Sebezna for over four months now.

I'm still waiting for mine...
Normally, I will receive it before the end of November. I agree with you, this knife will be my very own and no other will be made like it. This is a great feeling ! :D

A few months later...

Do you want to know why I love everybody at CRK ?
:D

Very plain at 1st glance but it has class, I like it. The ring around the cabochon really sets it off without being tacky. got to love CRk.

Very nice. The inlay is like a black pearl. I have a CGG Website that I carry regularly for about 6 months. I still looks new.
