Nice one Dave, I'm just not in to tactical knives, yet... But I did get one the other day in that big collection I got... I'll have to take some pics later....

Looks like a great utility knife. Not sure what the blade thickness is, but ATS-34 is excellent steel and the handle is made to last.

Dave, did it come with box and sheath? Is it the "real deal"?

I always liked that model, but I thought the markings were stamped? and shouldnt there be a SB.# or something else? Sorry I am not up to date on these :D

I don't own an 888, but yours is looking a little off to me. The blade markings, as postfallsidaho mentioned, and the handle screws look different too.

I snatched a photo from online... does yours match this one:

So plumberdv is that the one you are sending to Joe? So that he can compare it to a real one? HL

Geez another knock off,not only does it have Buck on the blade but Bos too?:foot: That could fool a lot of people:eek:

I own two of the 888's and both have info on the blade stamped not printed. My guess would be copies as info on blade on this knife is printed. Will be interested to see what Joe has to say and if the actual composition of the steel can be determined.
Seems there have been quite a few of these on the auction site over the past few months......use caution......if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

I would say thats a pretty good copy!! Steel composition can be determined, I just wonder if Buck has the tool. I would think they would almost have to.
Its called a PMI Gun. (Positive Material Identification). We have one at work to test types and materials of pipe and fittings :D
Buck may have something similar??

Yeah, the Bos stamp convinced me but now with a better look, the handle screws always give the ripoffs away

That is a pretty good ripoff though as far as ripoffs go. Fortunately I'm not a big strider fan or I may have picked one up. Thanks for givin one for the team Plum

Not being familiar with that model, I would have thought it was legit by seeing the picture.

Hopefully Buck will go after the fakers agressively and successfully.

Here's another one from a Chinese website. It's a "better" copy than the one I show. It has the date stamp and all.
