It lives!

Where's the choppa?
I haven't gotten around to it yet but I may be doing something similar based on a blade I making for K. Estela. It will be like this one, same blade design only with an completely different handle design.

This isn't a UNK but a design based off of a blade used during the Katipunan era in the Philippines. I love my original Bolo Scott made me last year and this is my 2nd rendition of Filipino design my heritage was telling me to do. Thankfully, Scott was willing to hook me up. A review will be posted in the next few weeks. Look up Luzon Bolo on Filhistory and you'll see more about its roots.

Can't wait for the review Kevin I really like your designs! You and Scott have created several great blades.

Thanks Trailside22! I just picked this blade up from my buddy Greg of Lone Rider Custom Grips. I haven't had a chance to test it yet but will be using it during the Upper Peninsula Survival Course I'm teaching next week in Michigan. Here are a few teaser pictures for now. Sorry this is taking so long but with training and travel, I haven't had much time to play with my blades as much as I would like to.

BTW, we nixed the idea of the brass bolster with triangular pin configuration. I have always felt the fewer parts the better especially with knives. Keeping the handle simple with 2pins and 2 slabs follows this tradition.

I thought I'd throw these up too. This beast needed a sheath to keep it safe. I made this sheath out of heavy 8-9 oz. leather and incorporated a few design concepts from the original Luzon short bolo sheath as well as my own personal touches. It is stitched with artificial sinew and is meant more for tucking into a waistband than to be worn on a belt.

Frickin sweet kev!!! Great leatherwork buddy. I really like the X pattern of stitching. You even gots a stamp. Nice. That blade screams of its asian influance. You got a knack for these blades. I cant wait till my bolo gets here so I can start using it. Good stuff Kevin. Greg nailed those handles. I totally get why you swithced to the slabs. Looks great.
