Hi all. I was at my local gun shop today to drop off a package at their ups drop box. Its the closest one for me and the fact that I get to browse the gun shop after is awesome! So I walk by the case with knifes in there and see they sold off most of the zt and kershaw stuff they had the last time I was in. I ask if they are getting anymore in and he tells me he doesn't know if they will. I then proceed to ask him if they have any kershaw or zt in the back, and he tells me to wait a minute he will be right back. About 4 minutes later he comes out with his arms full of boxes and sets them all up just for me. After talking to him, they buy stuff set it in the case and if it doesn't sell he just shelfs it and replaces it with something else. I look at them and pick out a chill, volt 2, and a H&K mini pika. I joke around with him saying I thought you had some more zt's. He points toward the case and says I think thats what we have left, a 0200 a 0400st and a 0121. I tell him I am interested in the 0200 but not today. He tells me they haven't sold as well as he thought they would and was unsure if they would be getting anymore in. I tell him thats a shame because I love the 0400st and the 0350st I bought off him awhile ago. We get talking about the individual zt knifes and I bring up the 0500. I tell him they were discontinued and you can't find them anywhere. I say yeah you know if you had one I would buy without a doubt!:foot: He walks over to the computer and enhances, ( a little super trooper reference!) He says I'll be right back. I'm thinking uh oh I know what these things cost! He walks out from the back with a big smile on his face, and says well you have no excuses now! at this point I'm drooling on the counter as he hands it to me. I'm just thinking man this is awesome! I mumble to him, how much is this going to set me back? He turns the box over and on the sticker I couldn't believe my eyes. About half of what a blem goes for these days! I grab the box and run to the register as fast as I could. I buy it before he changes his mind! I am now the proud owner of #1614. I always wanted one and never thought I would be able to find one, let alone one I could afford. The moral of the story is do not hesitate to ask if you don't see what you want. I did!:D

How about the rest of you? Ever go in a store, not see something and ask just to find something sweet hidden in the back? Lets hear your story!:listening_headphone

Great story and great find! I'm more than a bit jealous! I've asked a number of times and just get the "seriously" eye roll.. but we don't have a place around here that regularly stocks ZTs or the high end Kershaws. The closest to that story for me was finding an Offset buried in the back of the clearance display tucked away on the second level behind the canoe storage.. on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard'. Well, everything but that last part [Douglas Adams' H2G2 reference].

What a great find. I don't have any place to look at knives except a few Spyderco's at msrp. I wish I did tho.

hey i finally figured out how to post a picture!

Ever since I got this, I am itching to go back and see what else might be lurking back in the stock room! i know he has a few more knifes of the BM persuasion for good prices. I told my buddies what happened, and they have been M_F'in me up and down!

Wow, great story! I wish I could find deals like that. I do have a couple of minor deals that I have gotten over the years:

I had been wanting to get my first Blur for a while, and had been looking at the 1670TBLKST at the local wally world, but hadn't seriously considered buying, since I like the scalloped serrations much better than the old-style ones on these. One day I was picking up some stuff at the WM near where my wife works, and took my usual stroll by the knife section there; the peg for the Blurs was marked $64, but the lone Blur blister pack was marked $57. I grabbed it and paid at a front register (and got charged $64), then went straight to the customer service counter for a price adjustment and a $5 mis-pricing bounty (MI), so I wound up with $52 plus tax in it! (I know that you can do nearly that online, but at least I didn't have to pay shipping...)

My other deal was years ago. I was working on collecting the old High-Tech series Kershaws (Wild Wild Turkey, Hawk, Talon, Starkey Ridge), and they were starting to get a bit hard to find (late '90's or early 2000's I think). I was on a trip for work (way too common back then!) and was checking out a gun shop just before I went to the airport. I saw that they had a perfect 1435 Ti Hawk in the presentation box (long, with plastic insert, holds the knife in the open position); the marked price was more than I had to spend at the time (can't remember how much it was, but I know the MSRP was over $100), but I took a chance and asked if they could take less. After explaining how much I wanted it for my collection, the owner asked how much I could afford; I told him that I had $70 in my pocket, and that would have to include tax. Luckily, he said "sold"! It remains a treasured part of my collection. :-)

I know I have gotten a few great deals on the 'bay, but I can't remember off the top of my head; I'll have to go back through all of my old paperwork, should be fun.

That's awesome

I've been able to find a couple Leeks that way. I'll call certain dealers and ask them about a few models...once they check their backstock, a few of them ended up coming back with something rare that had been stuffed under other knives for years!

scottabrandeberry- Thats a good deal! I always ask if they will take less as I am pretty cheap and could care less what they think about me! Also helps putting on the pouty face!

Leek_Freak- I need to find out who they have as a dealer. I'm hoping he has some discontinued kershawness! I have been looking for a decent priced composite leek or a random leek minus serrations. I sold my black on black and miss it as a pocket edc. I have been stuck using my zing as of late. I always feel like using the 0350st or the 0400st i am getting the looks!
