It occurs to me, that I have not yet publicly raved about my Malla.

I picked it up at the MWKK from among the BBoB. It was the only one there, and the first one I'd seen. We all had an opportunity to go to the BBoB "petting zoo" before bidding began, and no matter what I looked at, I kept coming back to the Malla. There were some awesome khuks on that table, too.

I had made up my mind, and could hardly wait for the "petting zoo" to close so bidding could begin. Unintentionally, I was responsible for delaying the start of the bidding because I refused to put the Malla back on the table and instead clutched it in a protective fetal position on the floor. (I don't know who suggested the hacksaw, but I would like to thank those who opted to use crowbars on me instead- except for whoever hit me on the head with one.) :grumpy:

I did not have one of the earlier bids, so I was very afraid that someone else would snatch up my Malla. Perhaps it was that everyone was moved by my obvious devotion to the Malla, or perhaps they all already had a Malla of their own, or perhaps the fact that I let slip the knowledge that I was a former postal worker, but no one else bid on my Malla! :D

I find it difficult to explain why I like it so much. I've been comparing it to my sirus, my chainpuri, and my kobra. The difference is subtle but significant. The Malla's grip is slightly longer than the others in the distance between the bolster and the rings. I can get almost my entire hand in there. It is also undeniably the "stabbiest" khuk I own. But I think I just love the profile. It seems to have a superior balance of speed and reach.

So, for whatever reason you guys let this one get by you, thank you. I think I have a new favorite. :)

the malla most definitely has a shark-like profile and i would say it was most likely a weapon khukuri.
(as opposed to the toolish kind)
i can see how you got hooked on that shape and sweep.
I feel the same way about my Gelbu specials and now the hanshee.
Most definitely these HI knives have a fetish quality.
Someof them are downright sexy.
Some people love the AK, some love the GR, some love the BAS, the M43, I love hte Gelbu Specials.

I have eyed the malla before. She reminds me of a skinny redhead in tight jeans.
Lean, but definitely worth spanking.
Enjoy!

Something else I forgot to mention- the karda has a cho! How common is that? I thought it was kinda cool.

I just had a thought, I am slowly becoming an AK man, my father seems to be leaning that way too. My brother hasn't handled one but I suspect it will be his 'Khuk of choice' before long. What I am getting at is that maybe ones KoC is actually genetically determined? ;)

I am not too sure about the Malla, it does look like more of a fighter than a chopper but not quite my cup of tea.

I bought a badly rusted one at a ridiculously low UBBB price last fall, cleaned it up and sharpened it a la the Pen sharpening video. What a monster! It's a tad over two pounds and cuts like an axe.

I like the karda too, mine even came with a little brass bolster.

Danny you're talking about one of my ex-wive's. I really miss that broad.

I had the hemorhoids once, I miss them too, both were a real pain in the ass. :p :D ;)

If Barbie reads that one you might get a replacement set of roids  :D

I have a Malla by Sanu- part of a 3 way trade that sent my Foxy's Folly to Yvsa.
I must say they certainly evoke the slim lines of the late 1800s khukuris (I have one of those) and the flat spine gives them ... something. It's a great design, and is certainly light enough to be a weapon.
The thick spine could lend itself to chopping, but the odd, huge cho makes me wary of beating on this blade.
Every khuk is unique- mine has a wide handle that is very suited to my hand, so I really like this blade.

Mr.BE did you see the pix of what I done to that particular Foxy Folly?!?!?!?!?
It's my favorite knife of all I have!!!!!!! :D

The Malla is alright and everyone is right, it does Scream Weapon, but personally IMO that's all that it is. I prefer my khuk's to be multi-purpose.;)

And I still believe a 17"-18" Foxy Folly would be the Absolute Best All Around Khuk that a man could own!!!!
It might even beat the Malla, Hands Down, at being a weapon. :p ;) :D

Sounds more like you're voting on the Playboy Playmate of the year than discussing edged tools.

ROTFLMAO ( because I do it too ). Remember my line on trying to choose between blue-eyed blonde, green-eyed redheaed, hazel-eyed brunette, and dark-eyed raven-tressed beauties?

I thought I come in and read a bit about Khuks...but my...it's gettin' downright steamy in here!

I sort of think of my Tarwar as a big, fat, sweaty broad...but one that will stand by you to the end!

I think I can throw some cold water on this thread with one simple question:

"If you equate Khuks with beautiful women, do you prefer your women with horn or wood?" :D  :D

I'll just let you enjoy those mental pictures for a while. ;)

Hey, as long as it's not silicon...er...plastic
