I had a remarkable experience yesterday with my brand new 21 Macassar drop point.
I showed it to my coworker. Keep in mind he good-naturedlly TOLERATES my knife babblings. He "EDCs" a $17 Kershaw and forgets most days to bring it or leaves it in his vehicle when he actually needs it to use at work. . . . I don't know

Anyway he's looking at my 21 and he almost immediately says "Wow it's thick up here at the spine (he didn't say spine he just pointed) but gee it is really thin right here (he was pointing at the area behind the edge and the hollow grind. He said it a couple of times. It really grabbed him. I think he said "it sounds thin " as he pulled his thumb across the edge.
Maybe this week end I will get around to measuring the thickness behind the edge. It is pretty fun that I won't have to correct or touch up or reprofile the edge. It is just fine the way it is. Here's proof :
