Hello everybody! My name is Jared, and I'm in the middle of Texas. Been around knives all my life. It's my hobby, and how I make my living. I, admittedly, have always been a fixed blade guy. The best lock is no lock. Now a folder was always part of my EDC, but I was never overly discerning about it, because at the very least I always pocket carry a small fixed blade also. The fact is I have never trusted a folding knife(till now). Well, I had been evaluating my gear and decided that my folder needed an upgrade. Fellow forum member N2K put a Hinderer in my hand at Blade and started this little bug in my brain. After lots of research of "the best" folders, I kept coming up with one choice - XM-18. So after talking it over with N2K(thanks buddy), he helped me decide on a flipper 3" slicer. Well wouldn't you know, I couldn't find one. I have no patience by the way, so I bought a flipper 3.5" spanto. Then, of course, a 3" came up the next day. What choice did I have??? I got both - and I'm not sorry!! I'm in love......again. And I'm in the doghouse with my wallet....again. Mag1 thank you for the 3.5. Gizmoman - a true pleasure to make your acquaitance, and thank you for the 3". For the people still on the fence about purchasing a hinderer - it will all make sense when you pick one up. I don't have words for how impressed I am, except maybe speechless. I'm glad I jumped in with both feet, and hands:D!

I look forward to joining your forum if y'all have space for another steel junkie. Have a great day everybody!

Welcome aboard ! I can tell when you make up your mind you go all the way, NK2 has a way of getting into your head doesn't he, well he certainly pointed you in the right direction. I can see you are quite an accomplished photographer, we all like lots of pictures on this sub forum so bring it on.

Congratulations! I'm in the process of acquiring my first myself, so needless to say I'm a little jealous at the moment. Always good to see more quality knives in my home state.

With those 2 knives you are basically set for life. Congrats on 2 excellent knives! Of course, a Wharncliff can be very useful in some situations...

Where abouts are you in TX, close to Fort Worth? Do you have a local knife shop? I'd love to stop by & talk about knives & Hinderers!
Congrats on finding the XM series & deciding it is the best folder you can have in your pocket, if N2K didn't put that thought in your head, you wouldn't have known what you were missing.

Holy hell, I just realized you were from my part of the world! I've seen your photos here and follow them on IG and somehow never noticed.

Final Option - thanks for the kind words! "Accomplished Photographer" hahaha, how about I accidentally happened to snap a pic that wasn't horrible.
NJHart - I'm excited for you! Hopefully the pic helps a little. Rest assured it will not disappoint! Yes, sir Texas born. Sorry, but what is IG?
Maprik - Great to hear from you again! Thanks! I don't know about a wharnie, 2 XM-18's in two days has stretched my budget a little...but who knows.
Modifiedz- I live in Abilene. No, I don't have a storefront. I converted my garage into a shop, and do most of my business over the net. I go to DFW every once in a while, maybe we can meet up sometime. Yes, I can totally blame it on N2K - good idea!)
Gress - thanks man!

Gress - thanks man!

Hiking in the 3 Sisters Wilderness outside of Bend, OR this week! Got an XM and the Howling Rat with me!! Great pair!

Welcome aboard, looks like an instant collection.

Wait till the scale / standoff / anodised clips / lanyard / SF hunting madness sets in, its only a matter of time.

That's a love hate journey :) Added production wharncliffe, molle clip to mine... Welcome to the Hinderer boards man. They are amazing tools!!

Welcome JM!

Was happy to discuss these knives with you from Blade and beyond. If you wanna blame someone for introducing you to Awesome....I'll gladly take the blame.

And let's be openly honest, I wasn't wearing a salesman's hat, just a knife-enthusiast's point of view. The decisions to get what you got were yours and yours alone...but blame away if it helps.

Nice photo of even nicer knives!

Maprik, I'm super jealous - hope you have a great time!

Jay, it already started. The scales I ordered should be here tomorrow. Now, some titanium standoffs......

DPrichard, congrats on your scores! Thanks for the welcome.

N2K - It was a pleasure to talk it over with you. I trust, and value highly, your opinions - thank you for sharing! Now, maybe blame is the wrong word, how about credit;) You steered me in the right direction for sure, and I am glad I didn't start with the ZT's. Nothing against them, and I will probably pick up the composite blade/carbon fiber at some point, but I'm very glad I started with the XM-18's. And, you were right - I am keeping both!:D

I approach all inquires thrown my way with a fair attitude. But I'd be fibbing to say I'm not biased toward certain things. Of course my bias comes from some experience, so it has whatever legitimacy others decide to place on it.

Enjoy your XMs!

Man I wish they were scores. :D Just added to my wish list. I started with ZTs myself, but was just sitting with a 560 and XM-18 in hand yesterday. 560 is a great knife but the difference is crystal clear handling them side by side. The Hinderer is so solid and smooth.

N2K - your advice was rock solid!

dPrichard - Well, I hope you get your wish list soon! I have handled both zt's, and now hinderer's, but not at the same time. But as my memory serves me, I did not have the same overwhelming reaction when I picked up a zt. No regrets!
