It was great seeing you at Blade again this year Allen, your knives were simply stunning. I had been watching you develop your new models for months, and had plans to pick up one or two specific ones for a very complex photography project I am working on which involves knives made by a few knife makers I personally know. You have come up with several lately that would fit in perfectly. It was a bit heart wrenching to have to let a few of them just slip away. But unfortunately about a month or so before Blade a very good friend of mine, Newton Martin of Martin Knives was diagnosed with Leukemia. They were later than they would have like to have been in catching it and the treatment plan was extensive and aggressive, so I sent him what I had set aside in my Blade fund to help with his bills which started piling up while he was in the hospital undergoing chemotherapy. So I almost missed going to Blade all together this time around, but luckily I have the most awesome mother-in-law in the world who refused to let that happen with what all Blade meant for me personally this year.

I had a really cool shot lined up here of you and your knives, but then some guy named Bill stepped in front of me  :p ;)

The three in osage running diagonally from upper right to lower left were the ones that broke my heart, but the upside of waiting would be getting a Matador with the hole in the blade, and maybe switching the improved handle for a bolstered Helmsman. That would be a grail set of cutlery for me, so hopefully later on this year we can work on those :)

Awesome photos Brian. Allen definitely had a great table at Blade. Those Osage beauties got me as well. I was definitely not financially prepared. :D I'm glad Bill got the Mantis though. Looks like he enjoyed it right away. I can't really complain as I walked away with the knife I specifically went there for, however.
I'm also bummed we didn't get to meet at Blade this year. You're definitely someone whose brain I'd like to pick about knife usage and design. :D

Thank you. Yeah he had some awesome blades. I wish I hadn't been so damned broke lol. Hopefully next year will be a little bit less hectic and I can meet more people.

It was great to see you too Brian. I really enjoyed getting to see old faces and meeting new folks. I truly enjoy making these knives and establishing friendships through them.
