well i went and done it i now have some people wanting my knives
they even want to pay me for them:D
i have just one big problem
MY NAME
i was going to use Butcher Block Knives but im not so sure thats right for me
i have made a few combat type knives and hunters but also some household types I want something that can be used for them all
also being my given name is Lloyd Richard Harner III
just so you know everyone calls me Butch, been that way as long as i can remember
so i need alittle help i have to fill 3 orders now and have to have a mark
ive been putting this off too long any help would be nice
thanks
butch

Alot of makers have their full name and City,State on the blade, Others have their last name, even others have something that sets them apart, once somebody see's it they will always remember it. I start out with my last name stamp on the blade, now I etch my last name on the inside of and outline of my state with a dot where I'm located at. I wanted it to be fairly easy for somebody to find me if they wanted to.

"butch harner knives" sounds pretty good or maybe LRH3 with the 3 like an exponent.
Alex

Lloyd Richard Harner III That name just spells "High Quality" Make your father proud and use it.

Having recently pondered this very thought, I can only say that all the guys here who told me to use the name my parents gave me finally made sense to me.

Still haven't sold a knife yet, but when I do, it'll have my name on it.

Whats you knifemaking forte? Tactical? If so, I like LRH3. How about just Butch?

Imagine being at a knife show, and talking to people there. how do you introduce yourself? hi im they guy who makes (what ever cool company name you thought of), or your own name. sooner or later when you get more regonition, people will recognize your name. also shows that your not hiding behind some company name. show them your proud to put your name on it. good luck

If you go by Butch, and you know that as your name, use it. When you're at knife shows, do you want people to call you Lloyd or Butch? A possible option would be to write Lloyd "Butch" Harner III, but I would go with Butch Harner to keep things simple.

hrmn, I like to think graphically... but I don't know if it's possible to do designs like this with an etcher

This is more traditional (and admittedly the one I like more)

man you guys are great this helps big time im now thinking about the harner III nice and clean/ simple
and btw i work for my dad and dont care to have him in any part of this
he already tells people that he's being a big help in my knife making and if you could call standing by me while grinding watching help then sure
i dont think im going to get to far into this here but he s not going to be a part
now pap on the other hand i have much respect for
thinking, and that cant be good right:D

The first one is excellent, IMHO. Great graphics, really catches your eye. The second one is terrible. Butcherblock, when people email you or call you, do they ask for Lloyd or Butch?

I agree the first one does catch your eye, and is better than the 2nd one. However the 2nd one is not "bad".

I used to throw the shot in my grammer school years. Now I throw the disc on my highschool track team. Its a blast.
