I think it would be awesome if Ethan made a carbon fiber neck knife or a boot knife. What do you think? It would be strange..I wonder if it could take an edge...I was thinking about this the other day, thinking how this would benefit a rock climber who could not handle the extra weight of a steel blade.

For a climber wouldn't a leatherman be a better choice? I've had to use mine to unlock stuck locking carabiners. If you already have a leatherman and want to reduce weight, don't take a second knife. How about combining a nut tool and some titanium and including a sharp edge?

Carbon fiber is stronger in tubes. So even a thin steel blade would be more durable than a carbon fiber one. And since it's layered it would just fray too easily along the edge. Carbon fiber also doesn't bend, it breaks. So it would never be reliable when you life is on the line. Pun intended!

Ethan was a climber and a caver in years gone by. Invented some things you might have heard of. As a matter of fact, I know you've heard of them.

He was also credited with creating the smallest and lightest trad equipment, and they are still around today.

With all that said, there has been many materials come through E's design bench, and the only thing other than steel, is something that Rob Simonich was known for using in his blades, Talonite, I think. Feels pretty light to me, and E's got a few of them, as him and Rob were good friends.

I don't think carbon fiber would be good at much but sticking in stuff. Kinda like the Landsky "The Knife", won't cut much, but you could jab it in something if you needed to.
