Years 1980 this multitool was the one used by Italian soldiers. Not all of them, me i.e. I was in Army on 1984-85 and I didn’t received an “army” knife, personal knife’s choice was tolerated, I had an Opinel, some others guys Victorinox, some others nothing at all. Anyway, this one is the “official” type.
Compared whit others Army knives, SAK in primis, seems to be very basic, to not to say poor. Steel is unknow, handle is in plastic. 5 functions: sheepfoot blade, flat screwdriver, can opener, bottle opener, ring for lanyard.

On the plastic handle the Italian Army logo

Under a stormy sky…

…let’s try the knife. The screwdriver: is flat and large, is just a protrusion of the internal liner

The can opener: it’s works pulling it backwardly, I was skeptical about it, but I must admit I was surprised how well it’s works

It’s works at least as my SAK can opener

Now the blade, a shot for comparison

First job, a trigger

Then, a tent’s picket

And some feathersticks

The knife in hand

As I said, this multitool is the “poor man SAK”. It’s works fairly well anyway, both as a cutter and as a can opener. The screwdriver instead it’s really “basic” compared to the SAK’s one. It’s really lacks for a reamer, also because of the sheepfoot blade.
Ciao,

Thank you for the review! Seems to be a nice tool. And it has already seen a lot of use. I´ve seen some pics about the UK armyknife and it looks really the same.

Kind regards
Andi
