My name is Rebecca I am posting to this forum for my brother Daniel who does not have access to a computer. He wants to post:
"I have been an amiture knife collector since my teen years (45 years) and have bought and sold a few switch blades but nothing like the one I have recently acquired. From my research I believe I have a late 19th - early 20th century Italian stilleto switchblade.
1. genuine pearl handles
2. hand crafted tempered steel framd and mechanism (release button is larger than usual and make excellent thumb hold on open knife)
3. knife is perfectly balanced at button (7" closed, 13" open)
4. only tang stamp is rather large inox stamp on button side smaller italy inox stamp on other side
5. knife resembles 19th century - CHATELLERAULTS - French knife
a. "S" shaped cross guards
b. push button
c. pearl handle
d. tilting rolling bolster blade release
6. when locking blade in handle sounds like S & W revolver cocking action; when blade is released sounds like S & W hammer falling on empty chamber
7. blade locks firmly no play what so ever
Knife is in like new condition. I would like to know more about manufacturer of this knife and an approximate value."
I can obtain pictures
