And you're on a well managed hunt for gentlemen, at a private reserve.

You have your Harris tweed hunters jacket, and knee high lace up boots proper for the period. Well trained gun dogs with a long bloodline are ranging out in front of you, and your L.C. Smith side by side shotgun chambered for the "sweet 16 " is in your hands.

This evening, after a dinner prepared by a chef, will be brandy and cigars in the lodge.

What gentlemans pocket knife is in your vest pocket?

This little gold-handled Empire, with four blades, and an intriguing design should be enjoyable in such a gathering. It is of that "roaring" time period!!:D

I just have to put it in place of my gold coin, snap on my watch, and I'm off to the hunt!!

We would have been out for sage hens with our heavy double tens, to furnish meat for the boys in Virginia City, Montana, after a hard day in the mines, and before they visited the "girls." No MOP lobsters in our crowd, but a few Walden Cutlery jacks, Winchester 1920's, and even an early CASE BRO'S. And we would have had a high roller in the group with a Cuban ceegar instead of chaw.

I am more like the guy that drove some one's carriage, but would be dressed for the occasion.

This would be my choice for the wait - the knife at the top. It was made around the turn of the century and I still carry it once a week or so. It has an ELECTRIC / CUT.CO./WALDEN, N.Y. stamp

I know this Chamblin Wharncliffe trapper wouldn't have been around back then. I posted this because the background struck a chord with Jackknife's description.

Nice old knives guys!

For the hunting lodge I would have left my finest gents knives at home, but for the vest pocket in that setting I would have something in the 3 3/8" range, like this NYKC
