First of all, merry Christmas to all the fine enablers ( I mean folks ) here on the Buck forum.

Now as many of you probably know , Im a lefty and make my own sheaths unless I like the factory sheath and Buck offers a left handed option.
Well it was a big no on both those points for the 113 ranger, I don't like where it rides and Buck doesn't offer a left handed option anyways.

Well I set it out to make a sheath and darn it if this isn't the nicest sheath I've ever made in the almost 10 years of amateurishly making my own sheaths.
On Christmas Eve of all days everything miraculously went right and I made a sheath that is not only functional and relatively sturdy as most of my sheaths are, It actually looks surprisingly decent with no glaring flaws and the fit is just how I like it. ( Besides a couple holes out of line near the tip )

I don't know what I did differently but I sure needs to figure it out, because I never thought I could make a sheath with equal F&F to a factory Buck sheath.

The streaks were not intentional because I simply don't know the trick to using brown leather dye yet, but I do like the way it looks.

Just thought you guys might like to see this sheath, I'm very happy with this one and hope it's a sign of future quality.

That did turn out nice and I like the streaks too!

Streaks can be a pain
I applaud anyone who can avoid them and still achieve the desired color.
I can dream of eventually being as good at leather work as you are, but it's a long ways off if it ever happens because I just don't have the time or money for supplies to devote myself to getting that good any time soon.

Pick up some dyed leather. That makes it much more enjoyable.

Do you drill with a drill press for stitching?

Send me your address and ill mail them to you.
Will do.
I'll bet what you've got is better that what I got in the cheap starter leatherworking set I bought off eBay.
Plus I lost the stitch grooving tip for my all in one tool.

nice job on it. thanks for sharing.

Thank you.

Hopefully this will give someone inspiration to try making a sheath themselves.
I'm currently using tools from a $30 set I bought off eBay last year and my quality did improve some, but I know people who do great work without a single proper leatherworking tool.

You inspire me!

Looking forward to seeing what you make.
Just don't try something for a 102 or 212...ect for a first go, coming up with a good design that's not loose or too tight and doesn't get cut by the tip is a real pain.

yep, David's gonna need to make a sheath for his soon to own 619....:)
