On 23rd September about 1-2am in the morning my wife gave birth to our first baby.

It was a long day but well worth it once we looked at our little girl. I really have to give props to my wife who was strong throughout it all. I know 'cos my fingers nearly came off when she grabbed my hand and squeezed on it. By the end of it i was shattered. I decided to stay with my wife throughout it all. We went in at 1pm and i finally came home at 4am. The night before didn't get much sleep and during the day didn't get any lunch or dinner. I was just dead hungry and sleepy. Came home at 4 am, put some chicken in the oven, ate and slept. Woke up early to go visit my wife and babygirl at the hospital.

I don't think it has registered yet that i have a baby. My wife can't come home yet 'cos they wanted her to stay a night 'cos she and the baby had a bit of a temperature. Tomorrow i will pick both of 'em up. Tonight I just came back from Land of the Dead which is long way overdue here in the UK. It was probably my last time going to the cinema in a long time.

Anyway, i have to clean the house and do the chores that my wife has put on a list before she comes back from the hospital.

Congratulations, you are a lucky man. My first child was a girl as well, and they can really bring out the protective feelings in you. Now is the time to start planning how to be a real Dad. Real Dads will feed, wash and change their babies... This is how you bond, very important. Then, before you know it you will have to learn how to brush hair and make pony tails; then later you can get her a ball and glove and teach her how to play catch. You are in for a real experience.

Are they allowed to play baseball in the UK?

congrats man...its the best time of your life...I was there when all three of mine were born...

When Andrew my middle son was born it just wiped my wife out...so they gave her something to make her sleep and put warm blankets on her and she just passed out..I sat in that dark room holding this little baby....He was wide awake and had the biggest scowl on his face...like " I was warm and well fed inside mom and why did you bring me out here????" I just held him and we stared at eachother for about two hours....I nearly drowned the kid with tears of joy...Then the baby fell asleep and Mom woke up and more tears...I was one of the most awesome, wonderful times of my life...

I am happy for you..cherish the next few days well...Your a Dad now...everything changes...

Bacon and cheese oatcakes all round then?

Congratulations. I have two girls, and I can tell you they grow up quick. Cherish each day.

oh no, a girl.

You will be wrapped around her little finger. You will be protective and will do anything for her. :o You will just adore her and love her more than your own life.

Then the day will come when she's 14 and boys are in the scene. You will naturally be very protective... After all you know how horny those little boys are and what they will want from your innocent precious baby. (been there done that, not happy).

You will worry from here on out. Kind of a curse. Infact my daughter is out right now, and was due to be home about 15 min ago.

edit: Also, give her lots of love and attention, a father's approval means the world to girls ..you don't want her seeking attention and approval from older boys.

Congrats Point! Best of luck to ya'll!
