I've been talking with my girlfriend about getting her a decent folder for her birthday. She was a bit iffy at first (not a knife person), but when she saw my Kershaw Tyrade immediately announced, "I want one that opens like that!" I told her about Kershaw and Ken Onion AO designs and left her to pick one out, as I figured those would be relatively easy on my pocketbook and she seemed to like them quite a bit. So she did an image search and picked out a Damascus bladed Ken Onion Shallot. I'm torn between being ecstatic at her choice of a good, handsome blade and wincing at the extra $50 her good taste added to the price tag.

the damascus shallot is a nice knife. you can get a factory second to save some money.

Don´t worry about the money. She has an eye for the good things. She has an eye on you too.;)

just get the nicer shallot. it is not worth risking her being turned off. why not give her the tyrade and get a sebbie to replace it :rolleyes: just a thought.

Kershaw AO's really are a gateway drug for a lot of people. That's what got me interested, and what I used to get a friend interested. The blems do cost a lot less, and don't have any noticeable defects.

sounds like she's a smart girl. get her what she wants. and remember;
if she's not happy, yer not happy

your girlfriend WANTS a rather nice folder and you're worried about $50?

i tell you what, i'll give YOU $50 for your girlfriend and I'll buy the knife for her?

Yea , lucky for me my girl was pleased as punch with her pink handled Ka Bar Dozier folder and pink Sabre pepper spray combo I got her last year.

Total cost was $35. :D

Then I paid off her $300 Amore & Baci necklace... :grumpy:
