Ryu’s Custom Sword is nearing completion. Here it is. . . . the custom “Dragon Fang” as designed by Ryu. It’s 37 inches of nuclear powered INFI. This bad boy floats in the hand and makes the air bleed. The handles are not attached nor are the final finishes applied yet. . . but you get the idea.

Full profile.

Here’s a close up of the handle profile.

Congratulations!!

Ryu, what did that monster cost?

This has got to be one of the toughest swords of all time! A modern day excalibur!
Are you going to use it or just drool over it?

Ryu,
Very Nice

Jerry,
I have a grinding stone like that one sitting in my yard, but mine has pedals. If you need it to increase your output let me know and I'll ship it out.

Notice that the tip is reversed. . . . meaning that instead of the most common convex grind on the front chisel sweep, we have put a deep hollow grind in order to make, what is the most dangerous edge, as good at slicing as is the rest of the sword.

I have never seen this combination before. A full convex primary grind, and a deeply hollow ground chisel. . . Only with INFI.

Ryu, gave us permission and the freedom to add anything to the design that we thought might make it perform better than any other sword out there. We think that this new Busse Combat combo grind will yield amazing results.

Rock on!

Jerry Busse

Ryu- Very Nice! One to be proud of.

You do realize that your obligated to named your sword. Or........better still, conduct your own Busse-vilian like naming contest, where the prize is a photo of your sword.

Seth -- still in traction splints from the last contest.

Jerry: ya gotta respond to my sword requests; especially after this!
Y'know, with them 11 finger grooves, i'm reminded of The Princess Bride: Inigo Montoyo's father "was a great sword-maker" & made a sword "for the six-fingered man!"
But....
The man never paid him, but took the sword, killed its maker, & well, the rest of Inigo's life was one of Revenge!

Ahem, sorry, RYU, didn't mean to imply anything; just got carried away...
But, just curious, uh, how many fingers DO you have, anyway...?
wink.gif

Excellent design; ya gotta love that bottle opener...

LOL. I've got 5 on each hand. But I've got three arms. Actually the handle length took me a while to decide on. Where it sits right now makes the sword well balanced yet doesn't get in the way when you spin it around. 11 grooves just makes it capable of being used with a close grip where ones hands touch. Or a wide grip at top and bottom. Or just about any hand position you can imagine (including a reverse grip for ninja death stalking LOL). Took me about a year to decide on all the design features. I wanted to make sure everything was right. Hell, I didn't even realize that my sword had some kinda unique grind on it until now. Jerry explained it to me last night but I figured he had put it on other blades before. Cool, truely one of a kind. Or at least first of a kind. I see Tanto Battle Mistress Variants in Jerry's future with this combo grind.

Seth... Her name is Dragon's Fang. I picked that name two years ago when I started drawing her.

Andrew... It cost. Lets just leave it at that.

I don't want you guys to be put off by what Ryu's sword cost. . . with all of the extra features and true custom design, the price was very inexpensive. . . .pocket change!

Oh Ryu, by the way, my 2001 Corvette arrived today. . . Thanks. I like the color you picked out for me. That covers your deposit. . . . Jennifer was wondering when you thought her's might get here? No rush, we just can't complete the sword until payment is made in full.

Climber,

Yeah, I love the part about the maker getting killed in your story. Are you still wondering why I won't get back with you????
mmmmmmm.. .. . .

". . .nice work Jerry. . . let's just see how sharp it is!!!!!! Whoa! You weren't kidding. . . it can cut a man completely in half!. . . Don't be upset. . .they can sew your torso and legs back together with a simple procedure. . . ." - CLIMBER

Don't be surprised if it's a while before I get back with you.

R.Markus,

Well, the blade is the same size, but the handle is MUCH longer. . . .it has to accomodate the blade after all. . . .You ought to see the pocket clip!
smile.gif

Eaissacs,

You have the model with pedals???? Lucky dog! Does that mean that it only takes one person to operate it?. . . This, my friends, is what dreams are made of. . . that would actually leave one hand free to operate the Black Label coolant system. . . .

Yours in Brewclear Coolants,

Jerry Busse

Hey Jerry,
You should put your blade catch on the folder so we can all have a nuclear folder and beer opener. Well, I guess I got the mother of all beer openers. Eventhough I don't drink it would be good to have should I run across any Busse's in the wild.

Oh yeah! The Corvette was not possible so I went ahead and got her the LEX. Leather and the gold package is cool with you guys right?

Didn't mean to make it sound like the price on this thing was over the top. It's worth every penny. Trust me... any man in here would have thought it to be a very fair price. Thanks Jerry for taking such good care of me. You gotta customer for life.

I will be at blade Sunday to under go the traditional Busse arm shaving/sword presentation event.

Nice Ryu. At $100 per inch, I'd guess it's worth $3700. Jerry however probably gave you $200 off for good behavior. That comes to about $3500; am I right?
biggrin.gif

Eaisaacs, if you have a grindstone like that sitting in your yard, I'm sure you have a roof or cover over it. Certainly all the far-above-average people who frequent this forum are already aware that the reason so many antique grindstones are seen to be hopelessly out of round is not usage, but RAIN.

If you have a grindstone like Grandpa's, be glad -- and pass it on to YOUR grandkids.
