FINALLY my new forge has managed to make it to me!!

...with all the stupid new rules and regulations that have been put in place around here its been one problem after another.
thankfully the guy who built it for me, a truly fantastic gentleman, managed to pull it off and produce his last ever gas appliance for me.
:D
(thats cutting it close)

its 1m in length, with 4 burners (as you can see) .. though i can turn off the back two burners if i dont need them.
it also has the required flame failure device on the first burner

its pretty standard inside... kaowool, grade bricks and cement.. oh and kiln shelving to protect it all from the flux.

& it gets real hot.... real fast.
:D

with the shortage of charcoal around here, (and my inability to burn charcoal worth forging with) my chaorcoal forge has just been idle for a loing while ... but this thing is going to mean that i can get through the orders that have been waiting ... (and waiting.. and waiting it seems)
:p

so if you have a blade on order from me, rejoice!
the day has finally come .. and im not going to sleep for the next month in order to catch up

Y'all really use the metric system? That stuff just confuses me!:) Congrat's, Dion. Can hardly wait to see what you come up with now!

Have fun playing with your new toy..

She sure is pretty. There is nothing quite like getting a new forge. You owe it to yourself.

actually, i havent had the inspector out here yet ..
they have this rule .. it goes something like:
i can get gas, so long as the forge is portable .. (it weighs a ton, but it Can be moved) but .. for it to be inspected as a portable applicance, it needs to have a special sticker on the side of it that says " this is a portable appliance "
in order to get one of these stickers, they need to come out and inspect it to make sure that it is a portable appliance, and then submit in writing that they want one of these stickers.

once i get one of these stickers and they come out to stick it on (cause apparently i am too stupid to know how to stick a sticker on the side of the appliance.. i need a gas fitter to do it for me)
i will be able to have another gas fitter come out to inspect it for leaks... then if he gives it the ok.. then i can have an inspector come out and see if i know how to turn it on ..
and if they are both happy .. they send in a written application for me to get gas.

then a week later i will get a bottle delivered.
each person will want a few hundred dollars .. and thats why it was suggested that i simply go out and get my small gas bottle filled up and just forge away for now.
and thats what i did.
:D

it works wonderfully.
forge welded beautifully.
heat treated wonderful.
and i can forge at about 2 psi coming thru.
i bearly touched the 9kg gas bottle that i am using after 8 hours of forging.

there are some thing that need to be modified... but nothing major.
and i am going over to the guys workshop today to pickup the stuff i need to alter it.
should make it a bit more effecient and easier to use.

so .. all is a go go.
:D

[and yes .. i happen to use the metric system .. and i happen to like it too :)]
