Hi everyone and let me start by saying Thank You for all your help with my (cousin's) knives, I enjoy showing and learning and am amazed with the beautiful collection's people have, this one just has me a little confused and thought everyone might like to see. My Question being what year, and what material is used for the spring holder as none of my other knives have, is it factory or is after factory installed appears to be a micarta have been looking through alot of previous post but have not seen another example like this. Blade seems to be 2nd version but that is the end of my knowledge. Knife has a rivet visible on each side of front bolster, no rivet visible on back left lower side of bolster and 2 on right side. Any and all help appreciated

Cool knife!

Yeah, it sure LOOKS like micarta.

I've never seen one like that.

I imagine one of our 110 gurus will be able to offer some info........and Joe Houser has been checking in now and then.

Thanks BG,
It is a strange one but as I have learned from the post lots of oddities do show up from time to time, hope someone has a clue as I have no idea and no I do not think it is a fake Pakistani knive spong but thanks for your input as any quess is as good as mine.We shall see what the buck masters have to say and who knows maybe Joe H will have another one for the buck 110 ID list.

I would say it's real and that it is a mighty fine looking 2nd/2nd....about 1966??

Actually, I had never noticed this before, but the second version is listed as having a fiber spacer.

Guess that's one on us......or maybe just me (have you looked at the sticky on the 110 versions?).

If I ever noticed it before......I forgot it.

:)

Did Buck ever stamp their name on the blade near the spine like that? I've never seen one, but I'm no expert by any means, hardly a novice.
Interesting to see what others who know better have to say

Hi nutoknives , you got a good find there it's one of my favorites with the blade pointing down on the right side of the top bolster if you see a pin it'a a 2ver/2var if theres no pin on visible the right its a 2ver/1var also the small nail nick shows up more in the 2ver/1var , either way thats a keeper.

Thanks again for the help did notice sticky but not that familar with all the terms as I am still educating myself, So a 2nd version 2nd variation approx. 1966 and a nice looking one. Thank you again one and all as I have alot to learn but everyone here sure makes it alot easier have a great day

This is from the 110/112 data sheet and mentions the fiber spacer.

Off to buck with a bunch of others for a spa treatment Thanks All

Those are some very nice 110s. I have a pair of them, 1st & 3rd variations, and the fiber spacer just adds to the cool factor

The way you describe the blade rivets showing on both sides goes along with a 2nd/2nd....the 2nd/1st shows on left side only according to the data sheet.

I can't follow exactly what you are saying about the butt rivets. It's looks like I can see two showing on the left side in your last picture which goes along with either the 1st or 2nd variations which are only supposed to have them on the left side with none showing on the right side.

In any event....that is a very nice vintage 110!!

Sorry Stumps I confused myself also, rivets are visible both side of front bolster, 2 rivets visible left side rear bolster only, originally I said right side that was a mistake on my part. That is why I chose new to knives, not totally new but new to the collecting side as I have used knives all my life, I am sorry for confussion but maybe others may learn about knives also through my mistakes and question's. One will never learn if one never ask the question!

Sorry Scott,
Forgot to mention very nice knives, thanks for photo's as I was looking for awhile and did not see any with the fiber holder that you and I showed first time I had seen that. I have a 1st version 1st variation somewhere, will find it just alot of knives to go through. Thanks for all help and as always KEEP EM SHARP

Stumps and Jarheadz28 you have it correct as per the variation being a 2nd,
So knife is a 1966 Version 2, Variation 2, as both rivets on front bolster are visible and rear are only visible on left side.Thank You all as I keep learning and growing my apprecciation for the early and later Bucks, lots to learn and discover and Thanks Again For All The Help

Those who ask questions deserve some credit, too.

It provides random review topics to help us re-learn things we forgot.

:D

Thanks guys for the photos of your knives. Scott, I think that term (cool factor) should appear in the 110 data sheets. Joe, would go for it... DM
