It’s May, and what a time it is for we Becker Backers.

The BK-5 Magnum Camp should be out this month. I know a lot of us are waiting for that one.

Who knows what other wonderful things will happen this month? One thing’s for certain, and that’s that this month is when the excitement builds for the beginning of next month.

What excitement, you may ask? Why, the Blade show that begins June 4th, of course. For those of you who don’t know, the annual Blade show is, arguably, the biggest event in the knife world.

Not only is it a great gathering where makers and consumers can get together to meet, greet, drool and buy, but it’s also when many manufacturers introduce new products, and that includes Becker/KA-BAR.

It’s only a month now till the unveiling of beauteous new Beckers that we’ve discussed and anticipated for so long: what will they be? Well, there could be a lot of things. Usually there are prototypes of Beckers that may be released in the future, but it’s the things that will get released just after the show that have many of us excited. Ethan and Toooj have been working for quite awhile on new releases, and Blade is where we’ll see them for the first time.

Like, how about the Tweeners, huh? We’ve been calling them Tweeners for quite awhile, because we really don’t know exactly what they’ll be. Oh, we know that they’ll be Beckers, and that they’ll be great, but we don’t know the specifics yet. I, for one, am just dying to find out, and I have a credit card just waiting for the big event.

One great way to get the first look, is to attend the Blade show in Atlanta. See the new releases first hand, and get a chance to meet Ethan and Toooj in person.

C’mon, Beckerheads, how many of you are going to Atlanta for the Blade show?

I'll be there and will be looking forward to meeting everyone I've had the pleasure of talking (posting) with. See you in Atlanta!

We all hope that you'll remember to take lots of pictures, RABII, and share them with us later.

I'd give my left... uh... tennis shoe to be able to make it myself, but, sadly, I just can't this year. I have to live through pictures and reports from those of you who can attend.

camping that weekend or i'd be there, two Machax fistin' like some ghetto elf from lord of the things...

I don't know about the government, but I know that you are a fatwood terrorist. Not a fatwood stump would be standing in the State of Georgia if they let you in, Bushy.

I know what you mean. For me, the trip from San Diego to Atlanta is just not doable, not to mention that I have other commitments. Sure would like to go, though.

For those of us who can't attend in person, we have the magic of the internet (which is a poor substitute) to keep us informed. We can only hope that our Becker Brethren will take lots and lots of pictures to share with us.

There's good news, though. You can flex the power of your credit card already to buy the new BK-2, and should be able to get the BK-5 Magnum Camp by the end of the month.

And then... and then... and then? Ah... then come the surprises, the other goodies that we're all looking forward to. Blade is when we get sneak peeks at prototypes that may — or may not — be produced in the future. More importantly, though, is that we get to see the final versions of things we know are coming, and find out when they'll actually be released. Usually they're for sale at Blade, and released to the public just after.

A whole lot of us are waiting for the Tweeners. We know they're coming, we just don't know exactly what they'll be. How many? What designs? How much will they cost? All these are questions that should be answered at Blade. I, for one, am looking forward to them, and the suspense is killing me.
