Since a got a new Sebenza, not anymore.

Ever since I handled the 25 prototype at blade last year I told myself this would be my next CRK. I really like the way it felt in the hand and I have always liked the ceramic ball lock up on my Umnumzaan. So I thought it was an easy choice. But I have always wanted a large 21 with Micarta inserts since my first days of reading about Chris Reeve knives. I went back and forth in my head between the two knives for the past week or so and yesterday I made my choice. I looked up the closest CRK dealer and made the two hour road trip with my wife and.......

Picked up a large 21 with Micarta Inserts.

Really happy with my choice. This is really close to my perfect Sebenza. My grail Sebenza is a micarta 21 with a Devon Thomas raindrop Damasus blade. But I am pleased none the less. It's nice to hold a new Sebenza again. Takes me back to first time I handled one. Maybe someday I'll get a 25 but for now I am going to carry and enjoy my new Sebenza.

What did I have in my pocket when I got my new Sebenza? Why a Sebenza of course. My well used and loved large Insingo. Here are some shots of my new and used.

Those are exactly my two favorite makes on the Sebenza currently. Just picked up a large 21 with micarta inlays a week or two ago and I love it. The blade shape and utility of the Insingo has been very hard to beat for me though and nothing has been able to push it out of my pocket as of yet. I really like how worn in yours looks, seems to be getting put to good use as it should be. If you don't mind my asking, what did you use to put an edge on it? It has a really nice looking mirror polish. Really itchin to get my hands on a 25 though... Congrats on the purchase!

Thanks jumpman. Yea I used that Insingo a lot over the three years I've had it. I used a combination of DMT stones and Spyderco stones to sharpen it.

Don't really know the angle as it was done freehand. I always tell myself when I get a new knife that I will use the factory edge for a while then break and ending up putting my own edge on it. We'll see how long I keep it on my new Sebenza.

Congrats on the new purchase. Also, that Insingo looks GREAT! I absolutely love the look of a worn Sebenza. I love how the scales pick up a "pocketwash" finish and also how the edges of the scales get distressed and stand out.
