I'm looking for a new EDC. This will probalbly be the last one I buy for awhile and I would like it to be my "go to" knife when I need something cut. This knife will also be my "beater" knife, it will only be used to cut stuff however.

What i'm looking for is this:

1. 3.5 inch blade or bigger

2. Nice solid feel to it with some heft

3. 60$ is my max because I don't want to put too much money on a knife I will use and use hard. If I spent anymore I wouldn't want to use it.:o

4. I know some don't like combo edge knives but I find them very useful and I would like the knife to come in a combo edge configuration.

I think thats about it, so if you have any suggestions feel free to toss them out there. :)

G10 Cara Cara, Cold Steel Voyager or Recon, Spyderco Endura, Benchmade Snipe or Ambush, Kabar Mule

Spyderco D'Allara Drop Point!

3.5" blade; full steel liners backing up rugged FRN scales; ball-bearing lock; saber grind that's both rugged and thin at the edge; wire clip for pants-safe/furniture-safe carry; costs less than $60 at New Graham; takes less than a thought to open and more than a thought to close (but only one hand).

I'll second all the Spydercos... and I'll second the Benchmade Ambush and Snipe, and I'll add the Camillus Heat. Great knife, solid as heck, sexy looking and great price.

How bout those byrd cara cara's in G-10? Anyone have any in hand pics of one of compared to another knife?

No pics, but the G-10 Cara Cara is a very nice knife. Deep hollow grind for slicing fun and very decent steel. Gunmike1 had me resharpen his and it angered me that so much knife could be bought for so little money after I have spent much more for a lot less.

Even though the G-10 Cara Cara has a longer blade and is less expensive, I still recommend the D'Allara Drop Point.

Even lets me feel manly when wearing butterfly wings:

I think i'm gonna go with the G-10 cara cara and a SAK one handed fireman or trekker. I think that will cover me for anything ;)

Thanks all for the help.

Gotta slip one in under the wire, Buck SBT Police Advocate.

Its a bit over 60 but less than 70 if you can find a good dealer. Kershaw Tactical Blur (tanto blade) love the thing to death and the grip is abrasive enough to grind granite and not be damaged
