i just got my package from darren about an hour ago. and yet again fedex put it on my neighbors front porch. i need to call them and have a talk with them.burner is completely put together including regulator, POL fitting, needle valve, ball valve, and 5' hose. going to install the wool tomorrow when its bright outside. it was already getting dark when i got my package. i just turned on the porch light and grabbed my cresent wrench and teflon tape and pipe dope (free shot IG) and just threw it all together. since my propane tank is still empty i cant fire it up and check for leaks just yet. one thing i need to remind alot of makers out there who are assembling their forge and whatnot is to always use teflon tape and pipe dope. i cant stress that part enough. also never over tighten your fittings. if the fitting cracks then your SOL. trash it and get a new part. also best way to test your connections is to close off your gas right before the nipple that is the burner or whatever yours is and turn on the gas full power and check for leaks by spraying each connection with leak detector. leak detector is easy to make. water and dish soap. mix that and put it in a spray bottle and spray your fittings. if it bubbles any then shut off the gas and give the fitting a little turn. 1/8-1/4 turn will work. then turn on the gas again and check your connections again. if it still leaks then check each fitting to make sure that it didnt crack from over tightening. im sure alot of yall already know this but there are those who dont and with my many years of plumbing experience i felt the need to stress the importance of all of this.
