...and that would be my Kershaw ZT0500!! This will make the third one I've had as I sold the first two to raise some money for a problem that has now been dealt with!

The ZT0500 MUDD is my favorite ZT folder. I simply love everything about it. I think Kershaw did a really bang-up job when they decided to do this one for the ZT line. I really love the beefiness and upsize that Kershaw added to the original.

I've read where a few people were on the fence about the MUDD due to the handle shape and a fear that it might not be comfortable. From my limited experience though, I've found it to be as good as any other folder I have, and better than most!

OK, that all the fanboy talk for tonite. But I leave you with this, is it really fanboy talk when it is the TRUTH?!?:D:D:D

The man speaks the truth! The 0500 is, in my humble opinion, far and away the best folder in the ZT line.

I really want one, too!

I have a zt0500 and I love it as well! I have never felt such a solid lockup on any knife ever, ad once you get used to the lock release they become very easy to flip open and closed. The only thing is that I took some 800 grit sandpaper and lightly went over the scales to remove the "burr" on the grip. Its still very grippy, but not doesnt chew holes through my pockets!

My only wish was that there was a southpaw version :(

Lefties are people to!

Speaking only from experience with the RAM, I like the Hawk-Lock and I'm a lefty. The lock is actuated by the index finger (the same as the flipper on the RAM), it's very easy and smooth to flip closed. If you prefer to close the blade with your index finger, your middle finger presses the lock release. Easier than right handed, in my opinion.

Good idea on the 800 grit sandpaper as I have done the same thing on my other two. Just makes the 0500 a little bit more "pocket friendly"!

a very fine selection as you know already!:) hopefully you get to keep this one longer than your other two! :D

experienced the same thing. i bought a role of gaffer tape for a project at work that never saw the light of day. but a small strip of tape on the crease of the pocket works wonders at keeping my pockets from being destroyed.

Appreciate the thought! As things stand now I should have no trouble enjoying this knife for a L o o o o n n n g g time to come!:D:thumbup:

Call it what you want.......but the truth is the truth.
KAI, ZT, Kershaw is tops. The best out there.

Congrats and enjoy that beast, Cutter.......for a loooooooong time!!

After reading your posts, about the rough scales on the MUDD.
I never really liked mine as much as I could have, because it was like holding a
prickly pine cone,very uncomfortable
Soooo tonight I took sand paper to the scales, and voila!! it's a brand new knife. Now it will move from a safe queen to a user

Congratulations cutter! It is so exciting anticipating getting a knife you've been wanting. Happy cutting!

It has arrived!:D:thumbup: Only took me about 30 mins. to set it up to my liking and it is now riding in my right front pocket! Had to tighten the pivot a smidge, and I also "lowered" the clip to help make it more stable, and I covered the clip with some black 3M Stair Step tape which has a finely pebbled surface and makes drawing the knife easier. Btw, got #0711 born in April of '08. Blade came razor sharp and the fit/finish is just perfect. Not too much I can say about the ZT0500 MUDD that hasn't already been said. It's just an outstanding knife that would probably sell at twice the price! Thinking I may get a black Ram next since they share a lot of likenesses.

Anyway, here is one HAPPY CAMPER!! Oh yeah, got my BLADE magazine today also.:D:thumbup::D

I gotta say, all this talk about MUDD REALLY makes me want to get one.
But I think a JYD II CB D2 comes first XD.

Been carrying the MUDD since Monday and it just keeps growing on me. I worked the clip a little more by lopping off an inch of it:eek::eek: Not to worry though, as I was able to get the little bend at the tip back on it, and got it rounded with a little help from my Dremel and a grinding wheel. Now the clip is 1.25" in length and covered with the 3M tape I so frequently use on my clips. Since 99% of the knife is in my pocket, the clip almost looks like a pen clip.

By lowering the clip I meant that I elongated the original screw hole in the clip, so that it resembles a flattened oval, and with the screw loose the clip can slide up or down. I also had to take a little bit of the clip off on the hole side and then round those edges. Now the clip sets all the way down between the two "ears" until the flats bottom out. This lets a tiny bit of the ears show, but only a TINYbit! This really stabilizes the clip so that I get no movement from it when I open the blade. The reason I get the movement on opening is because I tightened the pivot up to my liking and it is a bit harder to open..............but it is exactly where I want it to be.:thumbup::D
