Hello everyone!

It seems I've finally found basic things I love my traditionals:

Spear point blade (one exception)
Teardrop sharp handle or quite close thicker at back (one exception)
small pen blade as secondary (one exception)
2 blades. (one exception)

My now most carried and adored knives are:
Queen Straightjack / balloon jack. D2 blades. Spear and pen blades
Queen Small Dan burke barlow (I got two) D2 blades, main spear blade and a small wahrncliffe (this was exception to pen blade)
Queen Canoe (Exception to tear drop handle shape)

GEC #85 Bullet end Jack. I got 3 these: 2011 forum knife EZ open, tidioute buffalo horn and tidioute indian paintbrush
GEC# 56 Clip point dogleg jack. I got spearpoint too and I do favor for this frame clip point.

Victorinox Alox Soldier / Pioneer. I got all verrsions 7 of these. Only with equal end handle design and no secondary blade.

If I have to pick three: Queen Dan Burke small Barlow, GEC #85 Indian Paintbrush and Forum Knife 2011 would be my choice. Close 4th would be clip point #56.

Took me two years collecting GEC to finally found the knives that could challenge my long term champion: Queen Dan Burke small Barlow. Pictures will be on soon.

If I would have to choose one knife. I think I might go my latest, the GEC Tidioute Indian paint brush #85... Its just gorgeous and flawless...

Congratulations, you're one of the few who found what they really like in a knife.

Meanwhile some of us keep throwing cash at knives trying to find contentment. :D

Congrats on the find. I've found so many I like I can't just choose one. :(

thejamppa! You must be a happy man... knowing what you want. You have a lot what we don´t have... still searching for the perfect setup, haunting online-shops and destroying the bank account... I´m a little jelaous ;) :)

I´m glad you found your perfect setup! :)

Kind regards
Andi

I think I share the sentiment that you're ahead of the game, knowing what you like. I thought I knew what I liked, but I've got a drawer full of fine blades to testify to my flightiness. I just got a GEC #72 in Cocobolo that I really like in my pocket right now, but yesterday it was a Northfield #48 jack in burnt stag. I'm a man of many likes, leave it at that.

maybe my taste will change over time but common nominator for my fave knives is handle shape and spear blade. Although there's exception. I very well could see carrying My #85 next to my custom made silversteel puukko for rest of my life. I mean could but where's the fun? Change is always fun, that's why we got edc rotation.

I believe it was your original thread that led me to look for a QDB Barlow...one of which I am finally carrying in my pocket :D

I like it a lot, but my "perfect" pattern is still out there...somewhere!

I haven't seen you post in a while. Maybe I just wasn't looking in the right threads. This thread reminds me of a thread similar to it that I started last year. My favorite is the mini copperhead (3), followed by the Texas jack (3), followed by my Silver Knight herd (idunno how many). Of course other knives are jockeying for position in this top three. I like your choices. This thread does need pictures. I'll take some photos of mine and drop them in here (tomorrow hopefully).

Let me put it this way..
I JUST opened a beer with my 2011 forum knife (Monteiths Black Beer from NZ)
In summing up -its razor sharp ,looks great and opens beer.
cheers.

Ok here are pictures. I added one knife I didn't mentioned as I really like it and its only flaw is slightly pale color compared its other Queen Siblings. No gaps, tight and secure is vault: The Queen Gunstock Honey Amber in D2.

Queen small Dan Burke Barlow (user one with bevels set 20 degree side instead 25 degree factory. (Safe Queen one is still in box without usage still nearly a mint condition)

DSCF6186.jpg

Queen Balloon/Straight jack. Nearly perfection except main blade is not center. Its few mm's from handle but doesn't rub at any point so I can live with it ;)

GEC #85 Bulletend Jack dark Buffalo Horn

DSCF6183.jpg

GEC #85 Indian Paint Brush. Too bad outside was raining so it really doesn't capture vivid red that turns orangish-yellow at lighter spot and deep almost blood red at darkest spots.

I've carried them alot and done small cutting but lately I haven't been in outdoors unfortunately so now too many show wear & tear nor patina. All #85's I managed to get this year. The Buffalo horn was EDC and sale due handle shrinkage. I fixed it my own way (mask taping bolsters and handles and then using epoxy to fix the gaps)

Took a while to get to the kids. I feel the same way, most of the time. :D

The forum knife and the canoes move me. Thanks for posting the pictures. I wish somebody would make a spear point/cap lifter version of the canoe. I would be there in a nano-second. I'd even go for a GEC White Owl with a spear/cap lifter combo.

Today, I'm carrying my Ulter camper. Like you, the spear point is my favorite blade for a pocket knife. Second place isn't even close (drop point) and I just won't carry a clip point (other than Buck 112).

Wow this is weird i just get a kick out of stuff like this. I also have two QDB smal barlows along with many other rare barlows the best, a queen straight jack, northfield and case tony bose doglegs, tidioute easy open single blade bullet jack, case canoe, CTB tribal spear, Knives i don't have but really want as well is the new Tidioute outlaw gunstock jack, 2011 easy open forum knife, CTB lanny's clip. Great taste my friend!!!

85 is a fine pattern indeed: I have the Forum, Stag Jack, and EZ-Open single blade in Natural Stag. The spear blade is just right broad and a fine slicer.

That 56 Frontier Bone is a handsome knife too. I have only Spear variants.

I admire that Queen Swell End Jack for many reasons: The ACSB handles are rich in both colour and texture. I have the Liner Lock single blade which has more of a Zulu Spear blade. This is certainly one of my favourites. Fine finish and balance, good to have both a credible backspring and a liner. Yes, it was hard to sharpen but using the diamonds on the DMT has produced excellent results. Worth thinking about the Queen Copperhead with a Liner Lock too. A compact sturdy knife that can handle a lot and goes nicely in the pocket.

Couple more favourites of mine, GEC Conductor. I like this most of all small knives and the White Owl too. But will I find contentment....it's a quest!

Regards, Will
