Well today I realized my speakers were dead as the foam rubber ring around the midrange cone was all rotten and torn up. So immediately I start looking online at new speakers. Now keep in mind that I am a college student and basically broke. Also am saving up money to go to buy a car, and some pennies for when NYCKS comes around. So I am not happy seeing prices upwards of $200 for anything half-way decent.

I notice the box of speakers that I took out of my car when I junked it. The wheels started turning, and there was smoke involved ;) . This is the result.

Good Afternoon All-

But does the speaker arrangement rock? Can you hear the cowbells?

"I put my pants on, just like the rest of ya', one leg at a time. But once my pants are on, I make gold records. I gotta' have more cowbell, baby! I got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell!"

~ Christopher Walken on SNL as producer Bruce Dickinson ~

ah yes

"Maybe I am being selfish but the last time I checked we didn't have to many songs that featured the cowbell"

and

"I would be doing myself a diservice and every member of this band if I didn't play the hell out of this"

Good ole Gene.

Jamie :p

I wasn't smokin nottin. :D Just refering to the smoke coming out of my head as I conhoured up this bright idea, HONEST.

Actually at the time I realized why my system was sounding like crap I was studying for my Java midterm. So I spent two hours slapping together this monster of a speaker instead of studying for my test. Then I went into work for a few hours, and now here I still sit avoiding my studies.

It actually sounds decent. It is hard to tell how good or bad it will really sound as I haven't done the other channel yet. The way I am looking at it is that it can't sound worse than it did with worn out woofers. This should last me a bit, and let me save some precious $$. :D

A couple of months ago I noticed that the amp of my powered sub had become loose. Maybe this means I really am playing my music to loud? Is that possible? :D

I finished the other speaker this afternoon. They don't sound half bad. Only one very minor quirk. I made one of the new front panels out of MDF, this stuff is pretty hard to cut with a jig saw. So in the process I burned some of the stuff, releasing all sorts of lovely toxic stuff. Now whenever I play the stereo it pumps that lovely smell into my room :D
