Well after I send another e-mail to the Prince, rejecting his offer of a bijillion dollars for my first forged blade.......yadda yadda...blah ..blah :D

I'm probably going to make a horrible mistake , but I'll be cleaning out the shop this w/e. I've enlisted the help of my little girl, to help her learn the value of getting paid for doing some hard work. We'll see how long she lasts.

If time allows , I'll be doing the accordian cut on another billet of mosaic. I screwed up the first one by using some 0-1 in the billet. Man that stuff's residual hardness from forging is a bitch. Guess I'll have to try out my little burnout oven for an anneal cycle. Got tired of breaking bits on it.

What ya'll doin?

Getting ready to head out the door for some hogging today. Not steel, groundhogs. :D Taking the 22-250 and the 223. I need some time out, been staying in the house too much. I have some HTing to do later today. The wife has some planting for me. 30 shrubs!! The neighbors we had went on a chopping spree and cut down the hedges that seperated our yards. (long story :grumpy: ) They just moved so we're replacing with some nice greenery. Have a good W/E everyone. ;)

It is about time Friday showed up -- it's been avoiding me all week.

I'm gonna drink a couple of beers with friends -- maybe even go bowling . I'me also going to work on a damascus S-guard bowie that I've been slowly putting together. Also have a massive HOS blade to finish up but it has been fighting me all the way. :grumpy:

You guys have a fun and safe weekend. :)

Missus is going on a Caribbean cruise with her Momma and sister. :D

I'll drop her off at the airport tomorrow morning, and then Patch and me are going to go do some fishing. Sunday, I'm going to smoke a pork shoulder and drink a case of beer.

Today, backing up a bit, I have to finish up a couple orders. ;)

going to the beach for a day and night
back sat eve going to be getting into the Ti i have a folder blade ready to go just hope it goes well i know it wolnt be smooth (first folder)

I'm attacking O1 again, and as of last night I had gotten the blade to properly harden, but I have yet to clean the blade up and see what my clay temperline looks like. I think 3/16" was just too damn thick on a knife with a 2" blade and 4" OAL! Hope to grind two more knives out this weekend, too, but I have a buttload of sheath work to do, too, which sucks because I just made 4 sheaths yesterday morning, too, before going in to see patients. :grumpy:

hope to get two knives close to done today then the sheaths..
got a deadline on these, need to ship early next week..
man,,, knife making is cutting into my shop-talk time :grumpy: :)
and hope to have the weekend toooooo dooooo what ever :)

Just finished a 12 hour clinical rotation. I am dirty dog tired, but had to check out the forum before I retired to the bed for an afternoon of slumber. Y'all don't work too hard now ya hear.

Ive been on night shift this week and am hopeing to catch up on some sleep.
Than its off to the grinder I go. I got a couple knives I should have finshed this weekend.

Interesting morning this morning, I'll tell y'all about it later. OT tomorrow, probably see Land of the Dead, spend my time in the airconditioning, playing on the internet at home tomorrow. Pools almost done, can't wait to take a swim. Should be done by this weekend.

Going to the 2nd Balisong Badass Cookout tomorrow. Should be a good time. Been working on a little surprise for it. It won't be pretty but it will be unique.
Picts maybe tomorrow if it turns out.
Maybe working on another of the JDM5160 blades. A smaller one this time.

Well guys this is midwwek for me, but by i'm glad not to be forging today. It's 90 in the shade. I know that may not seem bad to some of you but forging for me raises the ambient temp by 40-45 degrees. I don't relish 135 in my shop. Especially working on the 15 pound billet that is my current project. To all you guys having cold beer and bbq this weekend (or fishing) Iwish you well. This is the time of year I'm thankful to be working third shift.
Ps for all of you that havn't been to my site in awhile, I'm putting up some new photos (when cigarman gets in gear, Just kidding Bill). keep an eye out!
thanks all,
Del

I'm glad I have you guys with real jobs around to remind me what damn day of the week it is.

If I didn't have to pay my gym dues at the end of each month, I'd never know if it was the first or last part of the month! :D

I've got some orders to finish up, and have to finish updating my press dies. I tore more of them apart to make them better, totally remade some, and made some new ones from the start.

Oh, and the gym of course :)

Did that last weekend... turned out great.

...you have your own rub recipe, or do you buy one?

Finished up a couple of sheaths before noon and played 8-ball at the bar at our local resort all afternoon between swilling beer and chalking my pool cue----Sandy---

I was all bent on working in the shop until it got too hot, but my squaw decided she's been cooped up too long and wanted to go sightseeing. Me, being boss around here, really put my foot down. On the gas pedal, that is. Off we went headed down along the river for about 50 miles while she ordered the driver to stop at yard sales and points of female interest. We went through Nauvoo and crossed the river at Hamilton Illinois to Keokuk, Iowa, and back up along the Mississippi to Burlington. This afternoon it was 'way too hot to get any work done in the shop, So it's been yard watering, errands, and enjoying the A/C in front of the big screen. Checking the mail after we got home wasn't bad, though. My Canadian customer's international money order had arrived here. Tonight is gonna be cold beer, TV, ordering some supplies, and razzing up my 2 squirrel hunting pups.

finaly im back in the game
im gona be workin all summer on gigantic knives!!
just ordered "some" steel(5 3foot bars ) 3 are o1 and i will be trying a-2 :D
I have heard that A-2 needs a higher temp to harden. would it be possible to get this high of a heat in a fireplace?? ( its got a blower already built it)
and i got some sweet wood of of ebay of all places
happy grindin and forging,
jv

The wife and I are going to take our Alaskan Malamute Blade to the America's Family Pet Expo at the fairplex in Pomona CA for the day tomorrow:

http://www.wwpsa.com/afpe/pe-pomona.html

We'll be exhibiting with the Southern California Alaskan Malamute Club. The event will take the whole Expo grounds and will feature thousands of dogs, cats, birds, rodents, reptiles, fish and even goats. There'll be plenty of vendors and a good time will be had by all. If you're a pet lover and in the area, it's worth your time to come and have some fun.

On sunday, there will be beer and some shop tinkering going on. I've given up on knife related projects until my KMG shows up as I just can't deal with the Craftsman 2x42 anymore.

Should be fun.
