You know the drill, what's going on with everyone this weekend? I'm doing an inlay sheath (hopefully) and finish cleaning up a few blades.

I gonna spark up my new charcoal forge (pics coming soon), sip a little Kentucky bourbon, and maybe slam some hot steel!

Sunday is a quick browse through the flea market then come home for a lobster and clam bake for Mother's Day.

Forges, forges, and more forges, I'm trying to get caught up on forges. :) Also, trying to get myself back in shape, some shape other than round in the mid section area, so I'll probably go out for some 50 - 60 mile bike rides over the weekend too, think I'll break out the recumbent tandem and get the wife out riding with me! :)

Attempting to buy a used bench grinder (lightly used) off of some yuppie art students. (Perhaps I will buy 2 and outfit one with medium grit stonesor buffing wheels).

Tuesday I am planning on making and perhaps trying out a 1 brick forge. I found a place that sells them.

But for now... I STUDY... so that next Sat I can graduate!

Jeff, you have a good plan! Me, I have to do some organizing in the shop, and try out my Canon 35mm on some closeup shots. Mushroom hunting, stone cutting, and some knife making will pretty well fill out the menu between giving momma her due. Also worked in there is getting some stone and antler boxed up and sent to some special makers. One of which lives in Nitro,WV, and is out hunting a monster tom turkey today. No names, but his initials are Roger Linger. I am organizing a package also for a gentleman that goes by IG, but I won't tell who he is. Nope.

As Bruce and my wife pointed out, I have some yard work to do! :o

I am also rebuilding a fishing boat I traded a flintlock for and need to finish that. My son wants me to build a class III hitch for his new van....I need to make a sheath for the finished hatchet, I have to forge a trigger guard for my new Hawken to be, .......TARGET RANGE TRIP......I have to go over the company books :barf: ......My wife is insisting (that's being polite) that I go to the dump.....

And the project of the week is:

Build a set of beech bodied, inletting scrapers. That means I need to plane some of the hurricane downed beech and make blade adjusters to fit the blades I haven't made yet.

In other words....another slow weekend !

Babysitting 3 8 year old giggly little girls. Oh what fun, on Saturday. try to organize my garage/shop at the same time. take Deb's Mom out for some prime rib on Sunday. Maybe grind a knife before I forget how. Work on my little motorcycle. Maybe work a little in the rabbit bait patch. look at my forge and sigh....... :( .

But for now... I STUDY... so that next Sat I can graduate

Congratulations Dave!!!!!!! :)

At the moment I am painting up a full tang damascus for etching. I hope to be able to profile a couple stainless blade this weekend also.

Doubtful if I can get much shop time in this weekend, as the 2 Grandkids are coming in today. The boy is 3.5 and the girl is 6 months. Plan on taking the boy out somewhere fun(at least for him).

If I get any spare time, it's garden planting time. Still gotta get those pepper plants in the ground. The tomatos are in(10 of them); and so are the green beans.

yeah....school is great....when it's over!

:D

this weekend? was supposed to go camping tonight, but being sick put a quick damper on that.

I have 6 or 7 blades sitting out on my table waiting for handles...maybe I'll do that instead....

[edited to add]

I'll probably end up doing some heavy house-cleaning too...:(

Mom is coming to visit next Thursday...

!!!

Dan, you best get started on those 6 or 7. The two 440C blades you sent me are already HT'd. Pretty soon you'll have 8 or 9 to handle. ;)

RL

cool, Roger.

But those 6 or 7 are just the ones on the top of the pile...:(....I have 17 orders waiting to get done....great to be in demand, sucks to be behind....:(

Gosh I hate Friday afternoons here at work. All I can think of is freedom, and what I'll do with it soon as 3:30 rolls around. Typically, some chucklehead will poke his head in my door and really pizz me off by telling me his press is broke. He'll get to goof off until quitting time, and I get to work like a fiend just to fix it before night shift gets in. :grumpy:

Hey all you guys have a WONDERFUL WEEKEND, ayuh!

I've got a large hunter ground and ready to heat treat, will be my second blade heat treated in the new forge, first one was 440C and this one is O1 so the learning curve will still be there on getting the heat right.
I've only got enough steel left for one regular sized or 2 small folders, so I suppose I'll start that or cook up some new hair brained project idea since there's no horseshow to go to. Oh...and I have to clean stalls, clean out the haymow, and probably the tack room and horsetrailer some time too. And figure out what to do for my mom on sunday

Saturday, go to the Meeca ( Home Depot) for garden supplies ( need for crop for HT relish), bring pickup in for flame job and get Indian running. Sunday spend with my lady and make lobsters and prime rib for lunch.

Jeff: Did I ever tell you how I make my clambake in a cast iron sink, seaweed and beer?????

well tomorrow looks like i'll be helping out opening the pool for a while.... try to skip out early to IG's and check out his new paint job.... maybe do up that cable and 0-1 sandwich get it if time permits bring some belt to surface grind it and send it out to Pendentive. give the old bat a hand in the garden you know how tough it is to handle a rake when you're his age

The Ole Bat has a new bat to put up aside of your head.  You couldn't handle my roto-tiller anyway. I'll give you a ride on my HD and after you get off it stand in the garden because the manure help the plants. :p :p
