this afternoon chuck geyer stopped over for a visit. its nice to meet a fellow forum member and knife knut. i had the chance to check out his sheathwork and also check out a few busse knives for the first time.
chuck has some nice knives and he makes some really nice sheaths (a whole heck of a lot better than mine i might add). after doing some chopping on a piece of red elm with a busse and a crash axe, i showed chuck how well the paper buffing wheel worked for touching up a slightly dull edge without going to the abrasive wheel. the look on his face as well as the missing hair from his arm told me he was well pleased with the results.
later on at home he split a hair and posted a link. here is a link http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=580061 after touching up his knives i showed him how to grind a knife on the disc sander which i'm giving to him when its done. the next time chuck comes over again it will be his turn to grind a knife. i really enjoyed talking with him and so did my dad.
i cant wait until he stops back over so i can teach him more about sharpening and how to grind a blade. it wont be long and i'll have him hooked on the smell of burning steel and a shower of sparks.
