As I said in a previous thread, Chuck Buck was in Greensburg Pa this past Saturday. I had the opportunity to meet him:thumbup: Everything that I ever heard on this forum about the man is true if not understated. He was a complete gentleman and genuine nice guy, nothing "put on" about him in the least bit. He gave me his ear for questions and gave me a very interesting and informative history of hs father and grandfather and signed 5 knives for me and my daughter. My wife took a picture of Kaylee and me with Mr. Buck and he commented that he doesnt often have the opportunity to have a pretty young lady next to him which made her day. What a guy!

One little tidbit I picked up is that he was carrying the small vantage model but it had S30v steel and G10 scales. I remarked that was a rare model and he said with a gentle smile, "when your chairman, they'll make whatever you want for you:). I though I heard him correctly when he said this model should be out for regular production next year:thumbup::thumbup: Can't wait to get one.

Again Mr Buck, if you are reading this thread, Thanks again for an exceptional experience.

Fritz (the bald guy with the pretty little blond)

yes you can get any thing you want when the mr chuck buck

yes he is like every ones granddad...

Good Deal Fritz!! I met Chuck last fall at LL Bean. Just as you say, he is a super nice man. I very much enjoyed meeting him as well.

Good to hear about the smaller Vantage Pro. I'll have to have that one for sure.

Hi Fritz,

Very cool for you and your family to meet MR. Buck. I wish Chuck would come to a central Cal location some day (hint). Did you buy your daughter a knife from Chuck? Post some photo's of the 5 knives you got signed.

Thanks for the input guys. Here is the best I can do with the pictures. Battery died on the camera during download so took a couple with my phone. sorry for poor quality.

The 5th knife was a nano bantam we bought at the store which Mr Buck autographed and pesonalized for my buddy. He wanted a knife for key chain carry and we gave it to him for his birthday. I didnt buy my daughter a knife-she got her little 425 signed as you can see. We did eye up the orangewood 102 for her 1st hunting knife. She'll be 12 late next year.

Yeah that little knife was sweet:thumbup: Didnt even try to talk him out of it...maybe I should have:D

There are a couple of new versions of the model 340 Vantage coming out later this year/early next year that probably include some of the things you would like- you'll have to wait until then for all of the info.
On the subject of Chuck being an absolute gentlemen and great person, I will give you a very brief 2 cents worth of this oustanding man from a perspective of working for him for 35 years. Chuck has always tried to make the right decision for the company, while always keeping in mind all of the people (employees) who depended on the company for their livelihood. He is sincere and a man of true character; this comes out in everything he does. When people say he talked with them and was so friendly, this is not an act on Chuck's part. Perhaps this is why there are some of us who are fiercely dedicated to Chuck and Buck Knives and will always remain so. It has been a privilege to know him and work for him.

Thats gotta be a great feeling working for a company like Buck. Not many companies like that around anymore...

Lucky !!! is all i have to say,i missed him at L.L Bean last fall in Maine, and again was out west but it was too far for me to travel, one of these days i would love to meet him and have him sign a few of my knives,it would be an honer if anything, all i've ever heard is what a great person he is,and there is no doubt he has made a great contribution to Buck Knives with his input and all of his stops in many stores.

Lucky is exactly what it was. One of my customers knows I love Buck knives and read it in a local paper that I dont read. She called me at work just to tell me or I would have never known. I owe her a discount next visit.

Well I figger since others have given their wish list, I would too.
I wish for exchangable scales that you could buy seperate so you could make up whatever you would like. I cant sharpen worth a lick if I cant do it with croc stics so I would like dymondwood to put on a 420hc 345 select. Or G10 on an Avid or dymondwood on a 340. That would keep tooling cost down for Buck.

Right, Dave!!

It was great to meet Chuck, to feel his Bel Air convertible, to come in contact with his family.
And now I know why I like Buck knives.

Best,
Haebbie

Off to Maine in a few days with my family, I see I missed Mr. Buck by a few weeks-twice! Oh well, someday...maybe when the wife and I get the travel trailer we'll head out to Idaho...
