Wow! That's about all I can get out at this point. This just arrived in the mail so eat your hearts out. Beautiful Buckeye inlays, N/S bolsters, BG-42 stonewashed designers choice blade.
All done with the most beautiful workmanship you're ever likely to see, by our own Flatlander 1963. I don't know if the true beauty of the handle material shows up in the photos, but it has a greyish blue tint to it.

I'm a happy guy! Thank you so much Gordon!

That's a real beauty Dave. I noticed the blade on Flat's post as well. So what, exactly, is a stonewashed blade; is that kind of like my jeans??

I don't know what it means, but it's very nice. Maybe when Gordon gets here, he will elaborate on the term.

#100 is very cool. I've been holding off buying any 110's for awhile now in anticipation of getting this one. I can start the searching again now.

That is a very cool #100 Dave. That Gordon is to cool for school.

That is a beautiful knife. Also it is one that you will always have a great memory with.

The question about the finish: I really don't know other than to say that's what I was told it was. It looks like a tumbled satin finish but that's just a guess. It is unusual however.

Flat, told by whom and where did you get it?? It is indeed unusual; I think I like it.

Thats one of a kind for sure-nice work Flat, nice catch Plum

You might have to change the heading to "It's Great to be me";)

So what, exactly, is a stonewashed blade

It is the proccess of making the blade scratch free but without the polish. Some people like it and some would rather have the full polish look. I am pretty sure that the custom shop was the only source for that finish.

So are you saying, the blade is buffed without using polish??

Nice work Flat.Tin Sue,I've given satin finishes to some vanadium steels and they'll come out looking like that.I used the grey compound loaded on a sisal buff then finished on a cotton wheel loaded w/ green chromium rouge. Those steels really resist polishing so a lot of makers give it that finish.DM
