It's Got To Be Posted

Well Corry, I'm glad you did, that's a nice looking knife. NIce rich colors in that handle and beautiful hamon line.

Yup,that sure is purty. It looks like a killer blade finish too. What are the specs?

Damn, Cory! You just succeeded in making mine look rather plain(Russ, just kiddin. In case you're reading this!)

I'm going to take a chance at the specs here. The blade is more than likely some of Howard Clark's 1086 modified, the guard is stainless and the handle is stabilized amboynia burl. Typical Russ Andrews fit and finish. Awesome!

That is an outstanding hunter. There is not one thing I don't like about this knife.

Dan, is there someplace I can get information on this 1086 improved?

Simply beautiful. Love the wood handle. Knowing the maker, everything about the fit and finish is sure to be hyper-clean. Thanks for sharing the pic and congrats on a sweet little knife.

Cheers,

Roger

I think that it is 1086. Mr. Andrews said that he'd either use that or another. I probably wouldn't know the difference. My use will be for general field duty and not dressing. I'm too squeemish for that. It's a nice size with a 5 3/8" blade and 10 1/2" overall.
The sheath is tight as it clicks into place deep in the groove. It's the first that I've had of that type and I like it a lot. Nice, clean and easy.
Thanks for the comments. I like this style of knife a lot and Mr. Andrews is way up there. I've seen some other makers post their stuff which is in the same caliber and I look forward to seeing more.

Thanks for the comments guys....
Cory and Danbo are correct...It's 1086V from Howard
Clark...Roughly the same as 1084, but with .23
Vanadium and .10 Chrome.

Thanks...
Russ

I've admired from afar. Slick clean lines on all I've seen and the latest Knives Illustrated just gave me morepictures to gawk at. That double grooved "ferrule" on the handle is a nice feature and looks like one that ERA does a bit of. I like everything, absolutely everything on that hunter - the blade, visual proof of skilled HT and finishing, guard, ferrule, handle with its amazing colours and great shape. A nice get and great show of skill too. Sorry about gushing, I'm a fan. Jason.
