Just picked this one up this afternoon. She never ceases to amaze me with her artistry.

Fooj,

You sure are on top of things, is this a monthly "Lisa Pick" or what ??

Good Lookin blade....

Holy hell...

It looks like it was hand painted. Can you believe they're still doing art like that on a computer?

I went to art school and work in graphic design and it's rare to see people do things nearly as nice as that on a computer.

I just have to say, there's one seriously creative mother f-er behind those handle designs.

I agree and endorse this message!

Awesome Fooj!

Adam's right. Lisa does the uniques on a mill, which is a serious skill in it's own right. She is amazing. I asked for unique to look like a metor falling and got this with a blue star sapphire.

WOW Fooj, that is spectacular!! Lisa DOES some amazing things!
Blackend: That is also a gorgeous Sebbie.

If you haven't already you should pick up the CRK DVD, takes you appreciation to a whole 'nuther level.

EDIT: OOps, forgot to say, that's a great looking graphic.

fulloflead: as far as I know Lisa is making that on HandMill.

Lisa did an amazing job on that meteor design, and chose an excellent star sapphire to complete the scene!

Indeed, Adam and blackend are correct. Lisa does all of her work freehand. It's amazing to watch her work -- a petite, graceful lady dwarfed by the behemothly powerful machine under her total control. I will say, however, that for very regular structures, Lisa looks to Keith to program a mill. For instance, for the Nozomi Taiko design on my EDC, the circle and "commas" were done by a program that Keith wrote, and the rest was a Lisa freehand job. At the risk of posting it too many times, I'll put the image up for reference. (sorry to those that are getting tired of seeing this thing):

I've mentioned this before, but I think it would be cool if there was a way to digitize a photo (or take a jpg), scale it to knife size, then repoduce is via the CNC machine.

Very interesting idea. I'm guessing that the programs tend to accept line art; however, if they could accept a digital image and do halftoning with the halftone cells being being dimples of different sizes, this could work. Any machinists out there that could comment on this idea?

Don't regret posting the Sebenza too much. I don't think I could get tired of looking at it. I love the ridges in the symbol.

Not exactly -- It's been a while since I've talked with CRK about doing a custom job. Things may have changed, but this is how it was several years ago. CRK quickly approves the class of custom jobs that are close variations of unique designs that Lisa's done before. There's a class of customizations that CRK will quickly reject, either because it violates their policy, too labor intensive, or represents a big enough unknown that it is unwise for them to try. The body of customizations that is in neither class is something that CRK will put some energy into studying. In most cases, lead time is long to get customizations done. Lisa is one busy lady -- unique designs are just a fraction of her duties in the shop. Anyone had CRK do a custom design recently?

Since she's been out sick earlier this year, she probably has a backlog of high-end work to do. It's worth a call to Heather to get Lisa's current availability for custom work.

Fooj, I'm never tired of seeing your killer CRK Sebenzas. You get all the good stuff but looks like Blackend is really starting a great collection with that meteor Sebenza. Both are outstanding in their own right. Lisa @ CRK is amazing.

Bought the DVD about 2-3 weeks ago. These knives are only as good as they are because of the care and quality shown in this video.I have so much respect for the man and the people that make Chris Reeve Knives! And I must say while I drool, stunning knives people!

Sorry for missing this question before -- this was never a Lisa's Pick. I just happened by the CRK shop, and it was available. I don't know if it was a cancelled order, or just a product of Lisa having some fun. I felt very fortunate to be in the right place at the right time.

I gotta say, I'm be in SOOooooo much trouble if I could stop by their shop regularly.
