The generosity of this fine forum and its good members has struck again.

Sometime ago I was chatting to Uncle Andi (Humppa) about those lovely Otter Webermesser knives. I'd tried and failed to order one from their site, some issue on the final pages, so Andi kindly offered to help me out and order for me.

When the time came he of course refused to let me send him the money and he very generously gifted me this great knife. This is going to prove a very useful knife to me at work, the pattern lends itself nicely to some of the fine work I do when dissecting and/or fusing pyrotechnics, it is a work knife afterall!

Without further delay, here's a picture of said knife....pictured here with some Apfelstreuselkuchen my brother made last night (which was a delicious breakfast just now :))

HOWEVER....this was not the only gift from Andi in my parcel....there was a little something else.
Again, in 'chatting' to Andi, we'd been talking about some of the US makers, Queen and Case, and I'd discussed having never had a Case knife. It was a wonderful surprise to me then, that he had chosen to resolve this issue for me too

Great stuff guys! :) Andi let me in on the secret last week, and I have to admit I was quite excited about it too! :D

I can see the Webermesser will be great for your work. That Peanut is a beauty, I'll look forward to seeing it in person. Congratulations on two great knives

(Apfelstreuselkuchen - Mmmm Great for breakfast :) )

Well done Andi, you are The Otter-Herder! :D And a great guy too

Great place, great people and unrestrained generosity, . I love this place.

Congrats scruffuk, Andi's generosity is very prevalent here on the Traditional forum.

Very cool! A very nice gesture from a generous guy, and couldn't have been bestowed upon a more deserving fellow.

We don't call him Uncle Andi for nothing:cool:

You are the best, Andi

Scrufuk, hope to see some pyrotechnic shots of it. And congrats

Doug....what knife is that on your Avitar?? Awesome looking.

Thank you. It is a Schrade 708Y from the 1960s. It was the last gift I gave my grandad before he passed unexpectedly. My grandma gave it back to me the next Christmas.

I recently had it rehandled because the yellow celluloid was shrinking and starting to tarnish the steel. Take a look here for my post about the rehandle work. In post #5 there is a link to a story I posted about this knife and why it is special to me.

Thom,

I´m glad the knives arrived safely, though there was so much snow and winter in UK. (I´ve seen it on TV)

I´m also glad you like the two knives - and I really hope the Otter is that kind of knife in matter of size and pattern which you wanted to have. The Peanut was an addition, I thought you could like. Because you didn´t own a Case knife until now.

Great you got the package and like it. :)

BTW: Great looking Apfelstreuselkuchen :D

Great gift's Andi  Scruffuk, you are well deserving and I for one second the video idea about clearing your driveway :D
