I pulled into the driveway an hour ago, and the first thing that came to my attention was a USPS box sticking out of my mailbox...you know what that means! Paramilitary!:D

I get inside and open the box (with my Chicago of course!), and holy smokes! That's a long Spyderco box! Proceed to open the box to get to the goodness and of course it doesn't disappoint. I grip the knife and place the padding of my thumb into the spyderhole...super smooth opening! Again I say out loud, "man this thing is huge! Most of my folders are 3" and under, so I grab my mini presidio to compare. Of course it's more the handle than the extra 1/2" of sharpened steel that gives it this "big" length. I've got smaller hands, but LOVE the ergos and big handle on this!

Speaking of the handles, three things stick out. First, the "stickyness" or "grip" of the G-10. It's just right! Plenty of traction with out being too aggresive. Definitely more traction than appears to the eye. Secondly, I love the nested liners! The added strength of the nested liners is a given, but wrapping my hand over the scales without feeling the liners is a plus. Third, it's slim and great in the pocket. Despite being longer than I'm use to, you don't even notice carrying it.

Now to the blade. Yes this thing is scary Spyderco sharp! The jimping is perfect, and I already knew that the blade shape coupled with the full flat grind is going to make for a slicing machine! I can't wait to test out the cutting capabilities of this sucker.

What really sold me on this knife was getting to check out the compression lock. Not from a strength stand point, but just as an uber-curious knife nut. Let me say this, I've owned alot of folders from alot of manufactuers (Benchmade, Kershaw, Emerson, Buck etc.) and I've always rolled my eyes when I see the word "tolerances" thrown around. Now I know what the fuss is about. There is no breaking in period needed on this knife! No sticky lock and no blade play. I've never had a knife that closed so fast and so smooth right out of the box. No opening/closing a hundred times, no pivot adjustment, and again no blade play!

That's all for now, and just off the top of my head. Pics to come later this week and a user update.

Everything you say is true. Para 2 is one sweet knife. Congrats on a great choice!
