It's here: John Powell's _The Kukri_ - 1st 3 chapters online...

Excellent reading. I know this was slated to be a published book, and appreciate the time, effort AND money that goes into an undertaking such as this.

To "give" it away is amazing.

:)

I think JP intends this online version as a sort of preview for his book.

We all owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to John for making this great resource available at no cost, and to Ben for putting it online. Thank you both.
For now at least I can stick the laptop on the coffee table, bring up the stored pages, and enjoy the ultimate coffee table kukri book.:D

Sign me up for a copy of the book when it's publised. The khukuris pictured are so pretty that it almost hurts to look at them. Sorry. Waxing poetic. (probably better than waxing vegetables).

JP,
I will "gladly" pay for the book NOW!!:D!There are two people I have exchanged mail with over a period of time, their insight, knowledge & suggestions have been a great help! JP is one,Sarge is the other,I am awed & honored by their friendship!
Thanks guys!
THE SAINT!

Thankyou for this John, Its a great piece of work. I am sure all us kukri collectors realy want your book. I know I do! All the power to your elbow. All the best, Spiral. :) ;) :D

Read all three chapters and you can put me down for a copy when it's published! The pics make me wish that the HI Kukris didn't have such defined elbows, guess HI needs to make a Hanshee.

John,
AWESOME!!:D I will second what Jim C. said. I will buy one! I pray that we are all lucky enough to see your book come to print. I, for one will own a couple copies. These forums sort of got me hooked on the Khuk as my main collecting interest in knives. The incredable knowledge that you share with us daily has made my interest grow into a passion. Thank you John!:D

Thanks to all for the compliments, but this wouldn't have come to light w/o Ben's help and massive amounts of patience with author's changes and whining. It also wouldn't even have been a concept w/o Bill's inspiration.

It was always my intent to disseminate in depth information about the kukri to anyone interested. I never expected to make any money and when the day does arrive to publish, any profits are earmaked for the Gurkha Welfare Trust. I still intend to produce a book with more than just the chapters you will see on line. There will be about 3 times as many pictures plus complete descriptions and measurements.

All I need is someone or some group to finance a privately published research piece. Not exactly a NY Times best seller, but it would be great to have something to refer to.
