For the last 4 months or so I've talked about getting an old SK5 Carbon steel Tigershark well it finally happened. Sent paypal Thursday morning, knife shipped the same day from Texas and arived yesterday here in Utah. Talk about Fast service! :D Didn't expect it till monday, but called my brother who accepts my mail for me about something and he said it had arived so I picked it up today.

This Blade is awesome!! I've handled the new stainless Sharks and they are nice, but there is something different with this older one... grind lines aren't as nice, but the edge is cleaner. Almost seems hand made. I like it a lot!! blade is masive, clean and heavy, though still fast. Can't wait to try it out.

For anyone thats wondering this is the Satin Finished SK5 version marked with the standard SOG Logo, with the old S.M. CA. Markings below that. My brother was gone when I got the knife but my sister and her hubby were there watching TV (older brother has an awesome theator setup). Brother inlaw Lee really liked it. Almost wouldn't give it back. LOL!!

Anyways, I thought I'd share my excitement with everyone. I'm off to cut veggies with it. Wish me luck! ;)

Nice score, SK-5 is a great steel. SOG makes a SK-5 NW Ranger or Pentagon I would be happy :)

Thanks, it sure is nice steel. Sunday after picking up the knife I used it to cut all the veggies for my Dutch Oven Beef stew. Who needs a Chefs knife when you have a shark! :p Edge developed a few dark spots despite the quick washing and drying after use. Rubbing it down with a scotch bright pad took care of that in mear seconds. This is some cool steel!

By the way, This blade came with a Convex edge from the factory. I'm the 3rd owner, though first person to use it and no one has sharpened it or touched the edge at all. I Love it!!! Also there is a slight recurve which makes it all that much more sexy... Figured I'd have to recurve and convex the edge when I got it, but no need. Someone at SOG did all that for me. IT's definantly a keeper. :D

Yeah, Thank Goodness for Tax returns. :) Yesterday I trew a BBQ for my birthday. The shark was used to cut up all the veggies. It worked great. Kind of scary how easally that big of a knife went threw the potatoes. Glad my hand wasn't in the way or there would have been problems.

LOL!!

Great knife  . It will serve you well. Just dont forget to coat it in oil when you put it away and keep it clean cause that SK-5 loves to rust.
